VICE PRESIDENT JOEL RASMUS invited RENEE FIGUEROA to the podium to introduce Katie Givan. 
Katie began by telling us that biology and government are her favorite courses at West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School. She participates in Best Buddies, Unified Track, soccer and theater after school hours. Her travels abroad include Scotland and England, Mexico, Japan, Costa Rica, Spain and Guatamala. It should be no surprise that she wants to immerse herself in another culture on her way to becoming a diplomat. Toward that end, she knows that the State Department is looking for people who speak Korean. Katey was thrilled to learn that she is going to spend the next year living with three different host families and going to high school in a suburb of Soule, Korea. The application process for the Rotary Youth Exchange program is extensive, i.e., a long application and an interview at the District level. There are two orientation sessions before she leaves. She thanked the club for nominating her for this magnificent opportunity.
