| | Volume XII, Issue 47 - Friday, May 29, 2020 President's PostBy David Vanasse on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 Happy Summer Y'all (unofficially)!
Memorial day has come and gone; the summer season upon us. I hope that you enjoyed your time with family and friends but also took time to honor the military personnel who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Art Wallace delivered an outstanding Memorial day program last week. His life experiences and military service were manifest. Thank you for the compliments received regarding the program as well. It's always good to hear feedback, but particularly nice when you feel we've done something well.
Congratulations to Gary Younts, our 100 club winner last week. We're looking forward to seeing his nice hair cut this week.
This week we will be recognizing our scholarship winners and students of the month (March- May). Please read on to learn more about them and be prepared to engage them, Friday.
I know it is late notice, but the school confirmed today that our T-shirt distribution is tomorrow. If you're interested in passing out shirt to WBHS Seniors that distribution is at the school from 9am - 4pm. Please read on for more details.
Lastly, our May Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 1. All are welcome to attend. Yours In Rotary Service,
David |

What I like about her as a person is that she was tolerant and accepting of everybody in the class and of all perspectives and opinions.” Jade will continue her education at Brunswick Community College. Volunteer Opportunities with Samara's VillageBy Jennifer Hardee Vanasse on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 Right now, Samara’s Village has several opportunities for people to become Villagers through volunteerism. We have several girls waiting for a home visitor to provide one-on-one support to and equip them to raise healthy babies. Similarly, we need fatherhood mentors to work with the babies’ fathers. We also have opportunities in many support positions, such as office help, board members with professional experience in law, accounting, education, and mental health. Maybe you don’t have the time to give any of those positions, but many of our committees need team members to accomplish fundraising, finance, and public relations, to name a few. If you’re interested in being a part of this life changing and personally rewarding program please visit our website ( www.samarasvillage.org) or contact any of the following: Janis Gassenmeyer (Volunteer Coordinator) janis@samarasvillage.org (251) 605-7660 Debbie Keener (Program Director) (717) 891-3013 debbiekeener@samarasvillage.org Karyn Ducey (Home Visitor Team Leader): karyn@samarasvillage.org (585) 410-0887 Tony Rizzo (Fatherhood Mentor) tony@samarasvillage.org (617) 335-3750 Susan Harman (board member, Marketing & PR) susan@samarasvillage.org (910) 620-4897 |
