Happy Hour meeting 2nd Wednesday monthly from 5:30-6:30pm at Smoketown Brewing Station Brunswick, MD 21716 Social Distancing BirthdaysClub Leaders | | Smoketown Rotary Club and Interact Club Members Tour Bar T Mountainside Camp On March 21, five Interact Club members and Rotarians Karin Tome, Abbie Ricketts, Chris Mourlas, Lois Jarman, and Ernie Stepoulos toured Bar T Mountainside Ranch located on Roderick Rd. in Urbana. Owner and environmentalist Joe Richardson led the tour of his farm and explained how each area functioned to conserve and produce energy along with composting and storm water run off management. The group was able to see the completed erosion renewal project of a small stream on the property. The camp has a swimming pool, basketball courts, ball field and many other exciting things for campers to do. Photos below are of the group and Joe Richardson:
Donation Drive Nets Big Delivery of Goods
Smoketown Rotarians sponsored a successful Donation Drive in late February through early March for the Emergency Family Shelter located in Frederick , MD. Donation drop off sites were organized by Abbie Ricketts and Arch Hodges set up the donation bins at the Little Red Barn, Brunswick Veterinary Hospital, Beans in the Belfry, Brunswick Sports and Apparel, and the Frederick YMCA. Volunteers including Kim Grizzle, Karin Tome, and Judy Coulliard monitored the bins and Jennifer Lolli-Hall, Charlie Harris, Ernie Stepolous, Karin Tome, and Mandi from ServPro delivered the donations to the shelter. Sue Kelly and Abbie Ricketts sorted and packed the donations. Huge thanks to all who helped. Neil Donnelly , Director of the Emergency Family Shelter expressed his sincere gratitude to our club. | |
Smoketown Rotary Club Becomes a Canal StewardThe Smoketown Rotary Club has committed to participating in the Canal Stewards Program. The club will be keeping the boat ramp area in good order through trash collection, sweeping, and cleaning. Launching date is May 8 (Time to be announced) Training on Zoom for one hour is required to become a steward. A choice of dates for the Zoom training will be sent out. Please let Abbie and Karin know if you would like to participate. |
