Gene Brown ElementaryThursday, November 11, 2021The students from Mrs. Clemmons' class have received their dictionaries from the Dictionary Project. 2021 Hendersonville Morning rotary Dictionary Project by the number..... This is the 14th year that we have presented a Dictionary to each Third Grader in Sumner County. We have given away approximately 30.980 Dictionaries to 29 Sumner County elementary schools plus White House Heritage. This year we will give 2,370 for a total distribution since the beginning of 33,350 books. Our own Kim Kim started the program in 2008 and we have expanded the project to include five Rotary Clubs in Sumner County. Thank you to all who have made this project possible with your donations of time and sponsorships. |

New Member Andrew WeisbrotThursday, November 11, 2021Hi my name is Andrew Weisbrot and I am a district executive with the Middle Tennessee Council Boy Scouts of America! I look over all the Scouting program in our great Sumner and Robertson Counties, our Bledsoe Creek District. I have been with the Scouts all my life but have worked for them for the past two years. I have learned so much more about our great program and really want to see it thrive day in and day out. A little background about me, I grew up in South Florida, near West Palm Beach, in Hobe Sound. I grew up playing all kinds of sports, most which I continue to play now such as soccer, golf, and basketball. I am an avid sports fan and love to watch games of any nature, go Chicago Cubs and Bears! After high school, I attended the University of Florida where I graduated with a degree in Sociology and Business Administration. I had a great time in college and learned from numerous teachers and internships which makes me into the man I am today. I interned with the Department of Children’s and Families and learned that I wanted to help our youth and help them become our future leaders of tomorrow! I have made many connections throughout my scouting career and I cannot wait to make more that will help our youth strive in this great program. Thank you all for having me and let’s get to work! New Member Becky AdairThursday, November 11, 2021Rebecca (Becky) Adair, Texas A&M University Class of ’86, spent 30 years working at colleges and universities in Texas, Wyoming, and Tennessee. Leaving higher ed in 2019, Becky created a “patchwork of possibilities” chart so she could choose how to spend her days. That included writing her first book, for parents of college students, titled “Whatever’s next…it’s not 13th grade (a dorm mom’s guide for a parent’s journey).” Speaking about that book to Rotary was the first step in deciding to apply for membership! Before she was selected to live (again) and work in a residence hall on the A&M campus in June 2000, her professional background was in communications, including business communications, editing, publications, and public relations. She completed a master’s in Adult Learning from the University of Wyoming in 2012 (having started way back in 1986). Her sometimes-profitable hobbies include organizing, presentations, author coaching, workshops, writing, proofreading, and calligraphy. Becky has two children from a previous marriage (Chelsea and Davis Downey) and two stepchildren from her current marriage to Chuck Beloney (an engineer and ’78 graduate of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band). She has worked with him since 2001 to support his business, Show and Tell Products, which is soon to be turned over to his son Adam. Two of the children live less than five miles away! The stepchildren (Adam and his wife Catrina, and Karen and her husband Shane) provided the delight of four grandchildren, long before Becky felt old enough to be a grandmother. Becky is known for being super-organized and talking with her hands. She collects coloring books (and the colors to use in them), board games, puzzles, s’mores characters, and books. When weather allows, Becky shoots archery in her backyard, wishes she could play more tennis, pickleball, and ping-pong, and sits on the patio admiring middle Tennessee. She likes to rate sunsets while drinking wine with her husband. She is strongly connected to her Scot and Irish roots, having been a competitive highland dancer back in the dark ages. Becky also plays the organ when nobody is listening and sings along with all the songs she knows. She loves getting to travel more, especially with friends and family (and friends who are family) while trying not to get too emotionally involved in Aggie sports. |

New Member Chris GonzalesThursday, November 11, 2021Greetings everyone. My name is Chris Gonzales. I am a father to three wild and wonderful kids, ages 11, 9, and 3, the two oldest at Indian Lake Elementary. I was in the Marines from 2001 to 2005 and am forever grateful for the life lessons and opportunities from my military service. Gunny Hendley first told me about Rotary and made the introduction to Col. Duffy White, my sponsor. I have been a Hendersonville Firefighter for just over 15 years and am currently a Captain at Station 3, on Bonita Pkwy. I love helping my neighbors and working with great teams. When I am not on the job or chasing kids around, I have two side businesses. One is an emergency preparedness consulting firm called Paravar Group. We help small to midsize businesses with all things emergencies: fire safety training, emergency action plans, hazmat, bloodborne pathogens, active shooter, TOSHA compliance, etc. My other side hustle is being an electrical contractor. Being diversified helped me stay busy through Covid. I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve with Rotary and look forward to our adventures together. Sincerely, Chris |
