Imagining Membership at the Next Level

August Update from DG Gerry Taylor

Saturday, August 6, 2022

“Imagine Rotary”

As I travel around the District, I am amazed at the service projects clubs are providing to their communities. I can’t mention all of them, but several of them stand out for the great benefits for their communities. Clayton has provided a dental clinic assisting those without dental insurance to get extractions and other services at a fraction of the normal cost. Lake Chatuge’s Tower Garden provides fresh vegetables to the local Food Bank. Union County is enhancing the city’s park for all to enjoy. And Madison County has provided over 800 handicap ramps for needy residents. Keep up the great work in all of our communities and around the world. Your leadership is greatly appreciated!

August is Membership Month. Recently, the District 6910 Board of Directors approved a new membership program that provides assistance to incoming new members 35 years of age and younger. Membership Co Chairs Scott Yochum and Pepper Pettit proposed for those that apply for new membership 35 years of age and under, the District will make available a subsidy that pays for their District dues, RI dues and a $100 annual contribution to The Rotary Foundation for their first 2 years of membership. Stay tuned for logistical details about this new creative initiative. Also, don’t forget to constantly check www.rotary.org for new membership leads and contact them to recruit for your club. It’s the easiest way to acquire new members. There are new leads in our District almost daily.

There are also several new initiatives taking place. PDG Tina Fischlin has a new college scholarship program about to launch. We have some new “Empowering Girls” advocates in place to help promote this awesome initiative. And we have a Zone Membership Challenge in place for this year.

I look forward to celebrating all your accomplishments in Chattanooga next April 27-30, 2023 at our
District Conference. “Get On Board The Rotary Express”. Registration should be available shortly after
Labor Day.
