Message from the Governor

Happy New Year and Save the Date!

The District Conference will be from April 14-16th this year. We plan to have the schedule posted by mid-January and then registrations begin at the end of January.

You can sign up for each day individually. Friday night is a recognition dinner, Saturday is an environmentally-focused day at the Elmwood Park Zoo, and Sunday will be the final rounds of the Roger Taylor Rotary Speech Contest.

I think it will be a good time, especially the zoo event and the speech contest! My goal is to get 100 Rotarians to attend each day, so if you can make it, please sign up when the email goes out.

From the Editors

We hope you enjoyed the holiday season and are now recharged and ready to reach some of your Rotary goals for 2023. What are some of your hopes for your club and/or committee? Please share by emailing DistrictDispatch7450@gmail.com. Your response may be included in an article next month and may inspire other Rotarians.

We're coming up on the first anniversary of this e-bulletin! Next month, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at its production.

Also, starting in February, you'll be seeing the District Dispatch in your inbox at the start of every month. We hope you take the time to read it so you'll be aware of upcoming programs, deadlines, and opportunities for engagement.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Lisa Leonard and Jay Pennie

Rotary's Theme for January: Vocational Service

With the new year comes a new feature in District Dispatch. We'll be posting an article in each edition about Rotary International's monthly theme. January's is Vocational Service.

Vocational Service calls on us to empower others by using our unique skills and expertise to address community needs. It also refers to helping others acquire or refine skills and advance their professional opportunities. Vocational Service should include:
  • High ethical standards in business and professions
  • The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations
  • The dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society

Finding the Next Peace Fellows

Rotary is looking for engaged leaders who are promoting national and international cooperation and peace throughout their lives.

Do you know of a dynamic person working in a career related to peace-building who could benefit from a fully-supported Masters Degree or Professional Certificate earned at one of the Rotary Peace Centers? Or, perhaps you know someone in a peace-building network who might know of someone at the right time of their career for this opportunity? If so, please share your idea with the District’s Peace Fellowship Subcommittee Chair, Joy Charlton, HERE.

Videos to Share for Member Recruitment

Watch the video featuring Coatesville Rotarian Alissa Griffith HERE.
Just as your club might have a New Year's Resolution to attract more members, individuals in your community are resolving to "get more involved in the community" and/or "make a difference." There's an easy way for you to reach these people and get them aware of Rotary: post on your Facebook page the short videos in the "I Belong" series.

When viewers hear Rotarians talking about what they love about the organization and the impact they're making, the hope is they will get in touch with a local club.

So please, help us help grow Rotary, Copy the link to any of these "I Belong" videos on YouTube and share them on social media.

Welcome New Members!

We'd like to extend a warm welcome to all our new members who joined us in our District this past month.

Rotary Leadership Institute

Want to increase your Rotary skills for the New Year?

Consider attending the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions in various parts of the world.

RLI seeks to have Rotary Clubs in its member districts identify those Rotarians who appear to have the potential for future club leadership (not necessarily as club presidents) and provide those so identified with a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills so important in voluntary organizations.

RLI is offering sessions I, II, III, and Graduate Level courses virtually on February 28 and March 2, 6 to 9 PM, sponsored by District 7930, Wakefield MA. Cost is only $25 for both sessions.

Register NOW for RLI NEA Seminar - Dist 7930-Wakefield, MA-Virtual (2 evenings)
or send your REGRET that you cannot attend by clicking here.

For more information, go to RLI North East America.
