| | President's Message.jpg) Happy Memorial Day weekend Oceanside family. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend despite the slightly chilly and windy weather. I know that I am – it was a very memorable weekend for my family. Not only did I get to spend time with my new grand baby, but my daughter got engaged and I got to help execute the surprise proposal. Unfortunately, this meant that I was not able to attend the BFAS Anniversary concert, but I hope many of you did. I am so glad that our club was able to sponsor this signature event for an organization that brings the arts to our beach community!
I hope you enjoyed our Club Assembly this past Tuesday morning. Have you been thinking about which Committee most interests you for next Rotary year? Our club is only as strong as our committees. We have such amazing members with so many talents. I have been so lucky this year to have such an active group of committee chairs and committee members. I want the same for Ken next year and I know that many of you have great suggestions on how we can make our club even better. Be on the lookout for the member survey coming out soon from our amazing Membership Committee. We want to hear from you!
It has been a busy Rotary week and it’s not over yet. On Wednesday evening, I had the pleasure of representing Oceanside at the Fletcher High School Senior Awards night to present our scholarships to 3 deserving students – Evan Hickey, Jessie Mullis, and Sebastian Phillips. What an impressive group of students! Thank you to Doug Brown and all the members who helped with the scholarship interview process. On Thursday morning, my flag team put out our flags in Jax Beach. I always love seeing the beach decked out in our Oceanside flags for a holiday! On Thursday afternoon, flags were placed at the Veterans Cemetery. On Friday, we had the BFAS anniversary concert and then will wrap up the weekend on Monday with the Beaches Community Kitchen service project. That opportunity filled up fast, so I hope you signed up early. It is always a fun and rewarding way to kick off a holiday morning. Finally, don’t forget the Memorial Day program for our veterans on Monday morning at 9am at Beaches Veterans Memorial Park.
Here is your reminder that we DO NOT have a meeting this Tuesday morning. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 6th at ABBQ where we will kick off the final month of this Rotary year and my last month as your President. Wow this year has just flown by!!
