Policy Change for DDF Allocation for GrantsBy William DunwoodyWe have been experiencing a decline in contributions to the Annual Fund due to lower membership numbers and an average per member reduction in contributions to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is the primary source of funds for the District, Global, and Express Grants we administer. Due to this reduction in available funding, Express Grants will not be offered during 2023-2024 and a change in the way Global Grant DDF matching contributions will be administered has been implemented for all Global Grant DDF requests effective 1 July 2023. What’s happening in Youth Exchange?By Patricia Carson on Wednesday, July 12, 2023The world of youth exchange is very busy this time of year! Eight of our long-term outbound students have just recently returned home to Canada and the USA. We still have one student yet to return. Returning from living abroad for a year can be very difficult for our students. They are happy to be back home with their friends and families in North America. At the same time, their host exchange countries seem so very far away and they are sad to have left their friends and host families abroad. It is challenging for our rebound students; not an easy time for sure. The District Youth exchange will reunite with these 'rebound' students at Camp Lutherhaven in September. We are excited to see the transformation in these young people and look forward to hearing their stories about exchange. Our District should be very proud of this group of students because they have proven themselves to be great ambassadors for our countries and for Rotary. Read More
Young traveling Rotarians ~ an opportunity!Tuesday, July 11, 2023Hello Rotarians! My name is Evyn Batie. I am a 23 year old Rotarian from Loveland, Colorado and I am on a mission! It has been my ambition for several years now to utilize my planned gap year (fall of 2022 through fall of 2023) as a service and learning opportunity. I am hoping, as a young Rotarian, to partner with Rotarians and Rotary Clubs around the United States and the world to create a unique traveling volunteer experience. As I travel, I am focused on finding organizations to serve and ways to give back to the community. It is my hope that this gap year will allow me to learn more about Rotary around the country and the world and will make me a better leader and stronger Rotarian for my own community. Read More

What is a theory of change?Tuesday, July 11, 2023By Rotary International staff You may have heard the term “theory of change” but not really known what it is. You may have even dismissed it as academic jargon. But a theory of change is an important part of our Programs of Scale grant process because a well-thought-out theory of change can serve as an indispensable road map to successfully reaching a project’s long-term goal. And since our Programs of Scale are all about large-scale, big impact, measurable results, a theory of change is an essential thing to develop. There are many ways to illustrate a theory of change. But perhaps the easiest is to think of a theory of change as an explanation of how a program will achieve its intended impact and in what circumstances. Read More
