Rotarian JO WADE, President, Greater Lafayette Convention & Visitors Bureau (Bureau), will discuss "Who Is Traveling to Greater Lafayette & Indiana and Is It Really an Important Economic Force for Us?" She has been with the Bureau for 18 years and CEO 14 of those years. The purpose of the Bureau is to promote the development and growth of the travel industry in Tippecanoe County by increasing the number of visitors who come here for business and pleasure. Basically it is an economic development organization that brings dollars to our community through visitor spending. JO will be introduced by President BOB GRIFFITHS (President BOB).

MEETING FUNCTION5: Money Collectors - DAN HEMAN, 11:15 to 11:45, and WALT VALENTINE, 11:45 to 12:15; Greeter - NELLIE LECHMAN; Invocation - AL CHISCON; Music - BOB VERPLANK; and high school guests (Central Catholic) GENE HILLS.

CLUB CONCERNS: Prior to the invocation today, Vice President GENE COURTANEY (Vice President GENE) requested members to remember the following in their thoughts and prayers: JERRY COLE who had surgery at the Mayo Clinic on Friday, December 41h and according to BOB BROCK a benign lump and a small portion of lung was removed - will be home soon; LINDA EWING, spouse of KEN, who is in Chicago for special treatments; LINDA GRIFFITH, spouse of GREG and daughter-in-law of GRIFF, now home; CONNIE GRIFFITHS, spouse of President BOB, CONNIE had surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital on Friday, December 41h for heart valve replacement, Pres. BOB indicated that she was doing fine; and JIM HOBBS in bed with a back problem. District Governor BILL HATFIELD noted that Blair Collings' (son of Joe Collings, President, Rockville Rotary Club, and grandson of 1994-95 Past District Governor Dick Collings, who was murdered in Paris, FRANCE on Thanksgiving Day) body is being returned from Paris today with funeral at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10th, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rockville. MEMBERSHIP & EDUCATION INFORMATION COMMITTEE MEETINQ (BOB GARRISON, Chair, and JERRY MC CARTHY, Vice Chair), 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 1998, Alumni Room, University Inn and Conference Center. This meeting is for potential candidates to learn more about Rotary in order to decide whether they would like to become a member. DAVE SATTLER introduced Judge Gregg Donat who made a most interesting presentation regarding the developing Tippecanoe Co. Therapeutic Drug Court (Court). Judge Donat explained that the difference between this Court and regular drug court is that this Court will see an individual on a regular basis and provide a ten-phase holistic approach. He noted that Tippecanoe County's main problem is not hard drugs but alcohol. Judge Donat closed by indicating that the Court is in the planning stages and he hopes it will be in place in 12 to 18 months.
