REMEMBER: This will be an extremely full meeting; therefore, President GENE COURTANEY (President GENE) will convene the meeting at Noon rather than the usual 12:10 p.m.
Eric Powell, Media Coordinator, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will present the program.
Program will be about the new Formula One race to be held in Indianapolis along with snippets of information on the
Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400. Mr. Powell will be introduced by TOM SCHMIDT, Program Coordinator for the month of April.
MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money Collectors - ERNIE POLAND, 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. and LEW RUNNELS, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.;
Greeter - DOUG TAYLOR; Invocation - NICK CLARK; Music - KATHY MEEKS; and no high school or vocational student guests.
CLUB CONCERNS: Prior to the invocation today, President GENE requested members to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers:
HOWARD DOSTER, spouse of BARB, who according to BARB was back in the office today; LINDA EWING, spouse of KEN; BOB HIATT;
BOB HOGUE, spouse, MARTHELLEN, today indicated that BOB had been in Home Hospital from last Tuesday p.m. until Friday where
he received two shots of neupogen which resulted in a doubling of his white blood cells (doctor was quite pleased with this),
also had pneumonia a second time, but is now home and doing much better; DALE MC HENRY, who according to an e-mail received
from him dated Friday, April 14th, is scheduled for radical prostate surgery by Dr. John Reisman at Home Hospital today,
April 18th; PEGGY OWENS, spouse of BRUCE, who according to a report at their church, is in intensive care in a FL hospital
with double pneumonia; SANDY PEARLMAN; MARV PHILLIPS; and BEV STONE.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: - CLUB DUES for the period, May 1 to October 31, 2000 ARE NOW DUE and are considered delinquent if not
paid by April 30th; please pay promptly - it would be appreciated.
- PICTURES and CORRECTIONS FOR DIRECTORY, which is
DUE OUT IN JULY 2000: CHRIS FUNK will be taking pictures, before and after regular Club meetings, for the next few weeks.
Upon arrival contact GRIFF for the room where pictures are being taken. It’s CHRIS’ goal to get new pictures
for every Rotarian over the next couple of years.
PLEASE COOPERATE AND GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN DURING THE NEXT FEW WEEKS or PROVIDE A BLACK/WHITE GLOSSY THAT CAN BE USED.
Also, it is important that you inform GRIFF regarding Directory information which SHOULD BE CORRECTED!

ROTARIANS CONSIDERING PROPOSAL OF A NEW MEMBER: A Rotary Information Session (Session), will be conducted by JERRY MC
CARTHY, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25th, Tailgate Lounge, University Inn Conference Center and Suites (University Inn).
Prospective member(s) must attend such a Session; therefore, if you are considering the sponsorship of a new member,
participation in this Session will speed up the membership process significantly.

- CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS at their April meeting
voted NOT TO HAVE A CLUB MEETING ON TUESDAY, JULY 4TH; change of administration to occur on Tuesday, July 11th.

PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS GATHERING: The Rotary Club of Indianapolis is extending an invitation for all Paul Harris Fellows
to gather at noon, Wednesday, May 10th, St. Vincent Martin House, 1801 West 86th Street (enter on the south end),
Indianapolis. Cost of the meal is $15.00 per person. Registration deadline is Wednesday, May 3rd, if interested,
contact GRIFF.
- SMALL GROUP DINNERS: JANE TURNER announced that Small Group Dinners would begin again with
JANE hosting one in her home on Thursday, May 4th, and CARL and CAROL REW hosting the next one in their home on Wednesday,
June 7th. Cost is $8.00 per person; contact JANE to make a reservation - better hurry as the number is limited.

guest of GENE HILLS; Wendy Copeland (Member of the Tippecanoe School Corporation Board of Education and running for
re-election to that Board), guest of JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER; and David Roquemore (Senior Pastor, Central Presbyterian Church),
guest of BILL LOVELL. MARK RUSSELL, BARB HANSEN, and Scholarship & Citizenship Committee, did an outstanding
job with the presentation of the Scholarship & Citizenship Awards Program (Program). President GENE opened the
meeting with normal functions and then turned the meeting over to MARK and BARB. BARB introduced Superintendents:
Dr. Stella Batagiannis (West Lafayette School Corporation); Dr. EDWARD EILER (Lafayette School Corporation);
and Dr. Richard Wood (Tippecanoe School Corporation); Principals: Medarda Bauer (McCutcheon); Joe Heath (Jefferson);
ANNE KOIVO (West Lafayette); Kenneth Siekman (Harrison); and David Worland (Central Catholic); and Guidance
Counselors/Nominators: Deborah Axness (Central Catholic); Betty Burkinshaw (Harrison);
Deborah Gutwein and James Tesmer (Jefferson); Sandy Shoemaker (McCutcheon); and Linda Sorensen (West Lafayette).
MARK and BARB then introduced the honored students and their parents: Lauren Loew (Robert and Tamara Loew) and
Michael Noel (mother, Teresa Noel, attended, but father, Dr. Rodney Noel, was unable to attend) - (Central Catholic);
Ashley Kessler (Jeffrey and Jana Kessler, and grandfather, Bill Chapman) and Hans Lee (Sangyong and Sunhi Lee)- (Harrison);
Lisa Plantenga (Christopher and Karen Plantenga) and Kevin Philpy (mother, Janice Philpy, attended, but father,
Gerald Philpy, was unable to attend) - (Jefferson); Sarah Clark (Larry and Robin Clark) and Craig Harrell
(David and Kathy Swink) - (McCutcheon); and Mindy Thacker (Leon and Rita Thacker) and Michael Kmec
(Joseph and Loyola Kmec) - (West Lafayette).
The $1,000.00 Frank K. Burrin Scholarship Award was presented to Hans Lee (Harrison).
The $1,000.00 Eric A. Holm Citizenship Award was presented to Mindy Thacker (West Lafayette).
Each of the other eight scholars received a $500.00 Thomas F. Moran, Sr. Scholarship Award. Robert Peterson,
local photographer, again this year took various group pictures of the guests, copies will be mailed to the
