OCTOBER BIRTHDAY TABLE: BILL FULLER, Chair, announced that Rotarians with birthdays in October contributed $1,283.00 to the Lafayette and International Foundations. PROGRAM (October 3, 2000) NELLIE LECHMAN introduced Rene' Thomas, Director, Black Cultural Center (BCC) who made a most interesting presentation.
Space does not permit coverage of her presentation in this issue of "Ripples", but future issues will cover facets of the BCC that are available to the public. DICK COLLINGS VISION for the FUTURE FUND: Jerry Erskine,
Immediate Past District Governor, made a presentation regarding the District's desire to raise $113,000.00 to purchase another "Sight On Wheels"
bus for INDIA which would take cataract removal capabilities to the people of INDIA since many cannot come to a facility. Hopefully the $113,000.00 will come from four
sources: (1) Rotary Club of Kanpur, INDIA; (2) District Rotarian contributions; (3) Contribution from District #6560; and (4) Grant from International matching the funds
from District #6560. Dick Collings was a previous District Governor, now deceased, who was responsible for raising funds to purchase the first "Sight On Wheels" which
became operable in January 1992. Forms will be on the tables for the next few weeks to allow Rotarians to make contributions to this very worthwhile project.
