Rotary International (RI) Director, James R. Shamblin, M.D., representing Zones 29 and 30, has appointed BILL HATFIELD to his advisory committee and requested
BILL to be his District #6560 contact. Director Shamblin is requesting, via BILL, input from Rotarians regarding Rotary programs, policies, procedures, and priorities.
He wants to know what Rotarians think is wrong in the way RI carries out its missions, and if there is a better way of doing business both internationally and
locally. BILL indicated that while unanimous recommendations from the Club Board of Directors will have more influence, any Rotarian may send his/her ideas to him
and he will include them with his report to Director Shamblin. Comments/suggestions should be into BILL prior to his leaving for the Zone Institute in Montgomery, AL, on November 15-19, 2000.

approved; (2) DAVE LANDGREBE, Foundation Treasurer, reviewed the Treasurer's First Quarter Report, 7/1/00-9/30/00; (3) KEITH SMITH, Club Assistant Treasurer,
substituting for DALE MC HENRY, Club Treasurer, reviewed the Cash Receipts and Disbursements Summary Report for September and Summary Comparison of Year-to-Date Income and Expenses through the end of the First Quarter,
7/1/00-9/30/00 versus 7/1/99-9/30/99, and noted negative cash flow through September 2000 is $22,168.00 including the $3,341.00 expenditure for computer
hardware; Receipts are up because 13 new members paid dues and enrollment fees during the first three months of this year to only three during the same period last
year; Six-page review from Thieme & Adair CPA's for Fiscal Year 7/1/99-6/30/00 was forwarded to each Director; and Thieme & Adair also prepared the Club's IRS

Wednesday, September 20th; Co-Chairs's proposal to have the Service Above Self fund raising concert each year on the Saturday following Purdue's Spring Break was
agreed to; PMO will contact the Long Center for the Performing Arts (Long Center) to reserve the corresponding Friday night, for setup and rehearsal, prior to the
scheduled Saturday evening performance; PMO will contact Ann Harringan to eliminate any future scheduling conflicts with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra;
and the possibility of the concert benefiting Habitat for Humanity appeals to BRIAN and his staff; (6) Annual Dinner for 2001 will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2001 since
Varsity Glee Club's recording session has been rescheduled; (6) BOB GARRISON, Chair, Retention Committee, reported that the "colored circle on name badges with
colored coded tables" seemed to be successful and was approved to be continued on the last Club meeting each month; (7) JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER reported that the
Service Above Self Award, formerly Vocational Service Award, to be awarded in February; (8) ELSA JANLE, Chair, Public Relations Committee, noted that initial
review forwarded to each Director; Some success with media coverage, but media does not always cover an event even though a commitment made; A number of
Rotarians provide event information in sufficient time to arrange coverage; Club's web site, maintained by CHRIS FUNK, is a wonderful publicity tool; and Felt
connecting Club web site with other local web sites, i.e., Convention and Visitors Bureau, Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce; Lafayette; and West Lafayette,
etc. would be very beneficial; and (9) Accepted the Nominations Committee's report. Next Club Board meeting is Monday, November 13th. Foundation Board: (1) Minutes of the Wednesday, October 11th Foundation

DENNIS WEIDENAAR, October Program Coordinator, introduced Gerald Lynch who made a most interesting presentation regarding
the current boom and whether it would continue. Prof. Lynch's presentation was WAY over the Editor's head, so no coverage. Prof. Lynch requested that in lieu of a Rotary wheel that a $10.00
