NOTE: Effective Tuesday, January 9, 2001 Rotary lunch will cost $7.50; this is the first increase since Rotary as been meeting at the University Inn Conference Center and Suites � four years.

CLUB CONCERNS

Prior to the invocation today, President DAN requested members to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: ARNI COHEN; RHONDA FEUER, who according to BOB, had surgery at St. Elizabeth Medical Center yesterday; YB HALL; BOB HIATT; JOHN MC KEE; ROY MEEKS, who according to KATHY MEEKS, was in St. Elizabeth Medical Center with double pneumonia for nine days, he is home now; FAE SPURLOCK; and BEV STONE.

CONGRATULATIONS to JIM HOBBS who today became the club's 184th recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition. JIM's certificate, lapel pin, and medallion were presented by JIM TURLEY, Chair, International Foundation Committee.

COLLECTION for University Inn Conference Center and Suites' waiters, servers, and others, amounted to $511.00. On their behalf, thank you so much, this will surely make their Holiday Season a brighter one.

BARBARA REIIF (BARB) with classification SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS & INSTITUTIONS�YWCA, was introduced by her sponsor, MARGERY ISMAIL. BARB and her spouse, GARY (formerly Pastor at the Federated Church of West Lafayette) are the parents of three children, two in the Greater Lafayette area and one in Ft. BARB was a Rotarian at Peoria, IL for ten years and now retired from administrative positions with the Girl Scouts and YWCA.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING/INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS CAMPAIGN - 2000: Second report from DAVE LANDGREBE, Treasurer, Lafayette Foundation, regarding contributions � total of $4,567.00 by 37 members with checks payable to the Foundation; total to date is $9,647.00; these amounts have been transferred to the Salvation Army. JERRY MC CARTHY, Vice Chair, Salvation Army Committee, announced that the amount collected in the kettles is not known at this time.

DAVE LUHMAN, Co-Chair, Rotary/Purdue Musical Organizations (PMO) Service Above Self Committee, announced that the "Singing for Greater Lafayette" fund raising event will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, with program provided by the PMO groups. Money generated from this event, hopefully $40,000.00, will fund the construction of the Rotary Habitat for Humanity house. Rotarians wishing to make tax deductible contributions to this event in order to receive tax benefits for this year, should contact either DAVE or BOB GRIFFITHS, the other Co-Chair. More details to be provided in future issues of "Ripples."

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGS

NOTES FROM CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING � Monday, December 11, 2000 � FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING, Wednesday, December 13, 2000, CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Club Board: (1) Minutes of the November 13th Board meeting were approved as distributed; (2) DALE MC HENRY, Treasurer, reviewed the "Cash Receipts and Disbursements Summary Report for November; Nine unrestricted contributions for $575.00, includes five new member contributions of $10.00 each, to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation (LRF), and 11 contributions for $479.00 (five contributions for $329.00 were designated for PolioPlus), also includes five new member contributions of $10,00 each, to The Rotary International Foundation (RIF); Payment of the Directors and Officers Liability Insurance premium of $540.00 for 1/1/01 � 12/31/01 to the Huggins Agency in Salem, OR is being processed, LRF will be billed for 50% of that premium; Reported 16 ongoing members arrears in payment of dues (if not paid by 12/31/00 will be dropped from membership), various Directors volunteered to contact these 16 members; Received a check, $1,401.87, from District 6560 for support of the Russian Leadership Team, after paying current bills there is a balance of $77.98; Received an audit inquiry from the Indiana Work Force Auditor (Club is assessed $2.70 pr quarter for Secretary position), upon advice of President DAN contacted the Auditor regarding inquiry, and plans to meet with him at MC HENRY's home at 9:00 a.m.,Thursday, January 4, 2001; and (3) Pending approval by the membership Selection & Classification and Membership Education Information Committees, approved membership proposal of Stella Batagianis, Superintendent, West Lafayette Community School Corporation, and approved Barbara Reif's request to transfer from Peoria, IL Rotary Club. Club Board review to be continued in January 2nd "Ripples".

PROGRAM (December 19, 2000)

KIRK CLARK, Program Coordinator for December, introduced Dr. Andrew Luescher who made an interesting presentation regarding modification of animal behavior. More about this in future issues of "Ripples."

VISITORS: JUDY STEVENSON, spouse of WARREN; Sonja Wise (Counselor, Management, Purdue), guest of BARB DOSTER; and Virgil Vaughn (Commercial Service Manager, PEFCU), guest of DAVE WILLIAMS.

JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL GUESTS: Amanda Newton and Tim Brisco were guests of the Club and hosted/introduced by DICK GRIPE. President DAN presented certificates of recognition, information brochures about Ambassadorial Scholarships for future reference, and Rotary travel mugs (Four-Way Test on them) to Amanda and Tim.

SPECIAL GUEST: Chun-Ki Kwon, Ambassadorial Scholar from the REPUBLIC OF KOREA, was guest of the Club and introduced by his Host Counselor, GORDON COPPOC.

MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money Collectors � HOWARD DIESSLIN and LARRY TIPTON; Greeting by CHRISTA KECK; Invocation by AL CISCON; Singing led by KATHY MEEKS; Rotary piano by HARLEY FREY; and Free Meals - GUS GUSTAFSON and MARA WASBURN.
