Ripples - September 25, 2001

Volume 87, Number 13 - September 25, 2001

UPCOMING PROGRAM (October 2, 2001)

Dr. David C. Van Sickle, Professor, Basic Medical Sciences School of Veterinary Science, Purdue, will speak on "Why joints last only 70 years." Dr. Van Sickle joined the staff at Purdue in 1961 and has a D.V.M. degree from Iowa State (1966) and Ph.D. degree from Purdue (1966). Dr. Van Sickle will be introduced by DICK BARTHOLOMEW, Program Coordinator for the month of October.

MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money Collectors - TOM FREY, 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., and BOB GARRISON, 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Greeter - GENE HILLS; Invocation - AL CHISCON; Music - BOB VERPLANK; and High School Guests (Central Catholic) hosted by SUSAN SMITH.

CLUB CONCERNS

Prior to the invocation today, President OSCAR HOPKINS requested members and spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: BOB HIATT; JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE (LEW RUNNELS reported that ED is at home, but progress is slow); Dirk Reif, son of BARB; CAROL REW, spouse of CARL; FAE SPURLOCK; and BEV STONE.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY to the family of CHRIS FUNK whose mother, Rosemary R. Funk, died Friday, September 14th in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY to MARNE HELGESEN whose mother died on Monday, September 10th.

A BIG THANKS to daughter-in-law, Linda Griffith, for coming over to the house last night and typing the balance of this issue of the "Ripples." The old left-hand is not too good, probably due to the stroke (my neurologist, Dr. Scott W. Hoyer, indicated that according to an MRI, a moderate to severe stroke had occurred), so at about 7:00 p.m. last evening, when typing on "Ripples" was not going too well,  Linda volunteered to come over and finish it.

ALSO, A BIG THANKS to JO WADE, GENE COURTANEY, MIKE FRAMPTON, and DICK BARTHOLOMEW for "coverin" for me during the past two weeks. I feel the process is back to normal at this time, pending cooperation of the left-hand (any errors you see, just blame them on the left-hand).
