EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; BEV STONE; and HARLAND WHITE. ANNOUNCEMENTS GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) OPPORTUNITY: The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is accepting applications for the US 2002 GSE Team Leader
and Members. GSE is a program that facilitates exchange visits of teams of young professional and business people between paired countries. Our District 6560 will
exchange with District 9320 and visit Lesotho and the South African provinces of Free State and Eastern Cape. The purpose is to promote international goodwill and
understanding, share knowledge of the US, and experience the customs and cultures of S. Central Africa. Criteria for Team Members include: US citizen, 25-40
years old, good health, employed full time, not directly related to a Rotary Club member, and must reside in District 6560. The Team Leader must be a Rotarian
from District 6560. The trip will take place from mid-July to mid-August. The timing of the trip makes it an excellent opportunity for individuals involved in education. The

REMINDER REGARDING THE AGRICULTURAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FISH FRY - DONYA LESTER NOTED TODAY THAT THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT. Date and location have changed to Saturday, February 2, 2002, at Cumberland Place
Exhibition Center. According to Purdue's "The Exponent", Bob Dole will be speaking last and discussing the challenges that arise from unprecedented political and economic changes.
SINGING FOR GREATER LAFAYETTE (SFGL), a benefit concert for scholarship and citizenship awards, recognizing high school seniors who have consistently
exercised principles of good citizenship and achieved exceptional scholastic records is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2002, at Cumberland Place. Tickets
for the performance by the Purdue Musical Organizations (PMO) and other participating County High School choral departments (Henry Harrison, Jefferson,
and West Lafayette High Schools) have already agreed to participate. There are three levels of tickets:
- Section #1 - $75.00 for dinner and performance ($35.00 for dinner/performance and $40.00 designated as a contribution to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation;
- Section #2 - Tickets are $20.00 ($10.00 for the performance and $10.00 designated as a charitable contribution to the Foundation); and
- Section #3 - Tickets are $15.00 ($5.00 for the performance and $10.00 designated as a charitable contribution to the Foundation).
DALE MC HENRY, Club Treasurer will be selling dinner/performance tickets at the Rotary Club meetings for the next few weeks. Please plan to support this SFGL
activity by purchasing a dinner/performance ticket or other level of tickets. Tickets are also on sale at Arni's, PEFCU, or Hall of Music and Loeb Play House Ticket Offices.
VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: TOM SCHMIDT, Chair, Vocational Scholarships Committee, has forwarded letters and four copies of the Vocational Scholarship
application form to BETTY DOVERSBERGER, Chancellor, Ivy Tech State College, and GREG REGER, Executive Director, Indiana Business College stating, "The
Lafayette Rotary Club, through their continuing generosity to students in our community, is offering scholarships for vocational students. Four scholarships of
$400.00 each will be awarded on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at the noon meeting of the Club." These scholarships will be given to students from Ivy Tech State College
and Indiana Business College. An application copy, if desired, may be acquired from either TOM or GRIFF. AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS: TERRY WEST, Co Chair,
Ambassadorial Scholars Committee announced today that the Committee is seeking applications for the one Ambassadorial scholarship available to District
6560 . There will be a "callout' for students to learn more about this scholarship at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2002 in Room 3201 of the Civil Engineering
Building, Purdue. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please direct them to this meeting. THE ATTICA-WILLIAMSPORT ROTARY CLUB celebrated its 65th anniversary at a
meeting at Robie's Restaurant on Saturday, January 10, 2002. It was reported that our Club sponsored the Attica-Williamsport Club; therefore, BETTY SUDDARTH,
Club Vice President, and BARB HANSEN, represented our Club at this meeting. They brought back a detailed history of the Attica-Williamsport Club; if you would like a copy, please contact GRIFF.
PROGRAM (January 29, 2002) PRESIDENT OSCAR introduced DAVID BOUGH, who in turn introduced Honorary Rotarian, SONYA MARGERUM, Mayor of
West Lafayette, who made a most interesting and comprehensive presentation, "State of the City 2001." SONYA was most gracious enough to provide a copy of her presentation, but space does not
permit copying. Excerpts will be placed in future "Ripples." SONYA closed with a Q & A session and wanted, in lieu of a Rotary wheel, for the Club to make a contribution to the Foundation.
