86th ANNUAL DINNER with the Purdue Varsity Glee Club under the direction of BRIAN BREED will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in the Grand Ballroom of the University Inn Conference Center and Suites  - Cash Bar at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. A significant part of the Club's costs related to the Dinner are the cost of meals provided to the Glee Club and spouses of deceased Rotarians, and Ambassadorial Scholars. Please consider financial assistance to sponsor one, two, or more of the Club's guests even if you are unable to attend the Dinner on May 7th. Your support is needed and appreciated. Also, please remember no regular Club meeting on this day, the Dinner takes the place of the regular meeting. Celebrate Rotary! Tickets for the 86th Annual Dinner are $25.00 per person. JOHN TROTT, Assistant Treasurer and probably DALE MC HENRY will be selling tickets outside the regular Club meeting room on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, and each Tuesday until May 7th. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: DALE MC HENRY, Treasurer, has prepared Dues statements for the dues period of May 1 - October 31, 2002, and were taken to the Post Office on Monday, April 1, 2002. Rotary dues are due by April 30th, 2002; please make a special effort to pay on time. Also, inserted with the Dues statement is a blue survey sheet regarding whether the membership is interested in possibly meeting downtown at the new Holiday Select Hotel. Please take a few minutes from your busy schedule to pay your dues, complete the survey, and return both to the appropriate person - JOHN TROTT, Assistant Treasurer.

GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE (GSE) OPPORTUNITY: GSE Team from District 920 (LESOTHO and SOUTH AFRICA) scheduled to arrive on Sunday, April 22, 2002 and leave for French Lick District Conference on Monday, April 26, 2002. The GSE members and vocations are as follows: Mike Frudd, Co Team leader (male), retired professional accountant, married and has two adult daughters; Menzintando Maboyi, the other Co Team leader, is male, single; and a lawyer; Chiara Chiumya (female, single, one child age 4, and a bank inspector); Ingrid Landman (female, single and medicine); Tawery Gladys Moyana (female, single and a lawyer). JEAN JACKSON and LINA REEVES-KERNER, Co-Chairs, GSE Committee requesting the following assistance: 1) Rotarian homes for these team members - still need two host families; 2) Van (luggage) and vehicle for transportation on April 22nd and to French Lick (District Conference) on April 26th. PLEASE NOTE: ANNUAL DINNER COMMITTEE MEETINGS: BETTY SUDDARTH, Vice President and Chair, Annual Dinner Committee has scheduled meetings for this Committee for the following Tuesdays: April 16th and April 30th. Meetings will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Tailgate Lounge, University Inn. Committee members include: BREED (or PMO representative); L. COHEN; HANKS; GRIFFIN-KOEHLER; MC HENRY; K. DISTRICT 6560 CONFERENCE, April 26, 27, and 28, 2002 at French Lick, IN. The Conference will be with District 6580 (Southern third of the State). Registration forms and other information will be available at the Secretary's table. For the past several years the Conference has been held in the District, but this year it will be at French Lick. Overnight rooms at the French Lick Hotel are $89.00 and a block of rooms will be held for the Conference until March 15th, 2002.

 WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL GUESTS: Sarah Walter (daughter of former Lafayette Rotarian Tom Walter) and Jeffrey Ksander were guests of the Club and hosted/introduced by TERRY WEST. President OSCAR presented certificates of recognition, information brochures about Ambassadorial Scholarships for future reference, and Rotary Travel mugs (Four-Way Test on them) to Sarah and Jeffrey.

PRESIDENT OSCAR Introduced BILL FULLER, Program Coordinator who introduced Dean David Stocum, School of Science, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) who made a detailed, enrollment and programs, power-point presentation regarding the evolution of IUPUI, 1969 to present, as an urban University. Dean Stocum closed with a Q & A session and requested that a contribution be made to the Foundation in lieu of a brass Rotary Wheel.
