UPCOMING PROGRAM (May 7, 2002)

ANNUAL DINNER with the Purdue Varsity Glee Club under the direction of BRIAN BREED will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2002, in the Grand Ballroom of the University Inn Conference Center and Suites - Cash Bar at 6:00 p.m. and Dinner at 6:30 p.m. A significant part of the Club's costs related to the Dinner is the cost of meals provided to the Glee Club and spouses of deceased Rotarians, and Ambassadorial Scholars. Please consider financial assistance to sponsor one, two, or more of the Club's guests even if you are unable to attend the Dinner on May 7th. Your support is needed and appreciated. Also, please remember no regular Club meeting on this day; the Dinner takes the place of the regular meeting. Celebrate Rotary! Tickets for the 89th Annual Dinner are $25.00 per person. SUMMER SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE THROUGH ROTARY: The Youth Committee of the Lafayette Noon Rotary is currently accepting application letters for summer recreational programs and camp scholarships. PROGRAM (April 30, 2002)

PRESIDENT OSCAR introduced BILL FULLER, Program Coordinator for the month of April. BILL introduced Jim Dworkin, Chancellor, Calumet Campus (Westville) who spoke about the past, present, and future of the North Central Campus, and then introduced Ed Bednar, Vice Chancellor for Academic Services, Calumet Campus, who told about the Calumet Campus' program for the five prisons within six miles of the campus. Both Jim and Ed's presentations were most interesting and when space permits will be provided in the "Ripples". Jim requested that a contribution be made to the Lafayette Foundation in lieu of a brass Rotary wheel.

VISITING ROTARIANS: James Dworkin, Valparaiso (Speaker and former Lafayette Rotarian); Joseph Goepfrich, Michigan City (Vice Chancellor for Development at Calumet Campus and operated the power point for the program, also made a $20.00 contribution to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation); and Ed Elliott, Naples, FL.

VISITORS: Chris Ladisch, Associate Provost, Purdue, guest of CAROLYN JONES; and John Meyers (candidate for Circuit Judge), guest of BILL PAPE.

SPECIAL GUEST: Rotary Scholar from JAPAN, Kazumi Matsumoto, hosted/introduced by RAY KAVANAUGH.

MEETING FUNCTIONS: Money collectors DICK KOHLS and JO WADE substituting for JOHN HUIE; singing led by CORKY MITCHELL; Rotary piano by HARLEY FREY; Free Meals Drawing - GENE COURTANEY and RICK SCHWARZ. Thanks to JO WADE for assisting at the Secretary's table.
