ELSA JANLE reminded us that nominations for the "Service Above Self" Vocational Service Award are due by February 28th. This award is presented the last week of
March to a person who exemplifies the name of the award. Rotarians and non-Rotarians have received this recognition. Forms are available from JANE or ELSA.
The Raffle for Eradicate Polio brought in $118.00 today. $59.00 goes to the Rotary International Eradicate Polio Fund, $29.00 went to the winning ticket number
(MARIELLEN NEUDECK) and $29.00 was added to the kettle for the person who draws the Ace of Spades. JERRY MC CARTHY announced that the Salvation Army kettles brought in $4,762.
Added to the donations received to date, we raised about $14,870.00. Donations are still being taken it you have not made yours. CHRIS JOHANNSEN, chair of the International Programs Committee, announced
that the club would be working with Purdue's International Friendship Program. Anyone wanting to participate in making an international student feel welcome in Greater Lafayette, please contact CHRIS.
ED HEMMER asked that anyone wishing to make tax deductible contributions to Books for Africa (see article in Rotarian on pages 14 & 15) please contact him.
A BIG THANKS to Burkhart Advertising (ROB MILLER) for donating 4 posters (billboards) during the months of Jan., Apr., Aug., Dec., of 2002. Each board has
one part of the 4-Way test. The donated space is equivalent to $11,600.00. Some of these may still be on display even though they were to expire Jan. 5, 2003.

At the Board of Director's meeting this week, the following policy for payment of dues was adopted. Please take note and plan to pay your dues within these time lines.
The following policies will apply to the payment of dues by members of the Lafayette Rotary Club.
- Dues will be billed every six months to cover the periods May through October, and November through April.
- Dues bills will be mailed on the first weekday on or after April 1 and October 1.
- Payments for dues are to arrive in the Lafayette Rotary Club mailbox, or be given to the Executive Secretary not later than November 1 or May 1.
If dues payment is not received by November 1 or May 1, the member will be proposed for removal from the Rotary membership roles at the Rotary Club Board
meeting scheduled to be held the second Monday in November or second Monday in May, unless the member has contacted the Executive Secretary or the Treasurer

HEATH of Lafayette. Since he became mayor in 1994, he took a city everyone was proud of and fine-tuned it. Changes include: More police and fire fighters; improved traffic system and controls;
more value from city services; completion of railroad relocation; upgraded parks system, improved water and waste water systems; and stronger economic development. Lafayette is the 9th largest
city in Indiana with the lowest tax rate in the state. The mayor feels the next mayor of Lafayette will start with a great base.GUESTS: Les Reker, Director of Lafayette Art Museum, guest of BILL LOVELL;
