THANK YOU

To the Lafayette Rotarians,

It is with pride and humility that I wish to say a rousing "Thank you" for the recent recognition Award for Vocational Service granted to me last Tuesday.

To be honored by my peers for doing something I thoroughly enjoy seems like being paid to eat hot fudge sundaes or take Caribbean cruises free of charge. Or perhaps the quip about the free lunches is another example. The honor is understandably exceptional and I alternately feel glib and/or speechless when I look at it and consider it.

Your thoughtful recognition makes me think I should have done more to improve the Quality of Life in Greater Lafayette and as soon as I find that forty-hour day I've been searching for these past several years, perhaps I can do so.

My gratitude cup is overflowing.

Sincerely yours,

Dick Jaeger

PROGRAM

MARGERY ISMAIL, program chair for April, introduced Dr. Don Mitchell, Professor of Philosophy at Purdue. Dr. Mitchell, the foremost authority on Buddhism in this area, gave us a brief history of Buddha and his insights. In life, as with a wheel, something is always rubbing. Buddha chose to try to address the mental "rubs" and woke up to a new way of living to achieve peace, happiness and joy. Several interesting questions from the club filled the final minutes of the meeting.
