PROGRAM:



Speaking to a meeting of the combined Lafayette Service Clubs, MORGAN BURKE announced that roads are open now so that getting to the games will be easier. September 6th is the first football game.

Morgan then introduced the new Purdue Volleyball coach, Dave Shondell. Dave told us that Indiana, Illinois and Ohio are the best volleyball states. He intends for Purdue to have the best team in the State of Indiana. Rebuilding the program will take time and the first task is to convince the players that they can win. But he is sure it will happen.

MORGAN next introduced head football coach Joe Tiller, mentioning that Arnett Tiller was a great asset in sprucing up athletic facilities. Our distinguished coach used his training camp voice to tell us that he is very excited about the most talented freshman class he has seen. Combined with nineteen veterans returning, he expects it to be a great year. He encouraged us to come to the beautifully renovated, gorgeous stadium.


Joe introduced Jim Vruggink who thanked us for the event, combining service clubs to hear the coaches; announced that a local chapter of the National Football Foundation is being formed; and gave a door prize (Tales of Boilermaker Country) to the person whose birthday it was today (PHIL KLINGER!).
