PRESIDENT BETTY SUDDARTH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER; Fran spouse of ROY MEEKS; and BOB BROCK. It was good to see ROY MEEKS at Rotary today following eye surgery.

• LES REKER, chair of the Arts and Culture Committee, announced upcoming events involving some of the larger cultural organizations.
  1. Tippecanoe County Historical Association's "Century on the Wabash" exhibit opens October 8th. It is a chronological history of Tippecanoe County from the late 1700's to 1920. The exhibit highlights the role of river, rail and highway transportation on the development of the region.
  2. Convos has Tomas Kubinek: Certified Lunatic and Master of the Impossible appearing October 25 in Loeb Playhouse
  3. Lafayette Symphony Orchestra presents its Keller Concert on October 18th at the Long Center. The first half of the program will feature extraordinary young people, and the second half will feature Rimsky Korsakov's Capriccio Espagnol.
  4. Civic Youth Theater presents "The Prince and the Pauper", October 10, 11 & 12 at Civic Theater.
  5. The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette continues an exhibition entitled "Domestic Edens", paintings by Time Kennedy and "Old Friends", selections from the permanent collections. For more information consult the TAF or Lafayette West Lafayette Convention and Visitor Bureau's web pages.

BIRTHDAY TABLE: JIM FOSTER introduced Rotarians celebrating birthdays in October and announced that so far they have contributed $630.00.

THANK YOU What a thoughtful way to honor the memory of JAMES IRVIN! Our furry friends add so much joy and companionship to our lives. TOM FREY (who, along with his wife Laurie, celebrated their 25th Anniversary today!) introduced Melissa Brown with the IU Center for Philanthropy. She is editor of "Giving USA". The Center strives to improve the concept of philanthropy worldwide. She had several slides with statistics showing who gives and who receives. There were good questions from Club members, making a very interesting presentation.
