    • 11 November: Veteran's Day, featuring Military Education Programs at Purdue -Tri Service ROTC by LTC (USA) Cliff Wojtalowicz, Captain (USN) Will Jordan, and Colonel (USAF) Ronnie Wright.

    • 18 November: Community supports for Older Adults. Linda Poland (wife of Rotarian Ernie), Homecare Coordinator at Family Services, Inc. and Milissa Lake-Spencer, Longterm Care Ombudsman at Family Services, Inc.

    • 25 November: Joint meeting with Kiwanis, who are in charge of program. They have arranged for Rev. Joe Wick, retired pastor of First Christian Church in Lafayette and noted humorist, to speak.

    CLUB CONCERNS:

    PRESIDENT BETTY SUDDARTH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER; JOHN BARRETT, BOB BROCK, Beverly spouse of OSCAR HOPKINS and BUD BAUGH.     ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • Daybreak Rotary Club's auction is this Saturday, November 1st from 9:30 -- 12:30 at the Fairgrounds. The proceeds will be divided between the Senior Center, the YWCA's Women's Shelter and Lafayette Resource Academy. They would appreciate our support of this activity.

    • District 6560 and 6580's Annual Mid-Year Rotary Foundation Seminar will be Saturday, November 15 at the Country Club of Indianapolis from 8:00 3:15. If you would like to join the group that is going, please contact BETTY SUDDARTH or JANE. These meetings are a great way to meet other Rotarians, learn more about what other clubs are doing and get a picture of the larger mission of Rotary.

    • WARREN STEVENSON has called a meeting of the Community Service Committee at 11:30 in the Tailgate Lounge before next week's regular meeting.

    • JIM BODENBILLER has called a meeting of the Communication Committee after the regular meeting on November 4th. If you are on this committee, plan to be there.

    • It is time to select your time slot and place to ring the Salvation Army Bell on Saturday, December 6th. The sign up sheet is at the back of the room.

      • BILL FULLER has received several "bounce backs" when he e-mails notification of Ripples postings on the web site. We suspect this is due to spam filters working overtime. If you are not receiving the reminder, please check into it or contact JANE with a correct e-mail address.

      PROGRAM:

      TOM FREY introduced David Miller, Senior Law Advisor in the Indiana Attorney General's office. He gave an interesting presentation on the Indiana No Call List. The program has 60% of the telephones in Indiana registered and has paid for itself through the sale of the list to telemarketers and through fines to violators of the law. Charitable organizations are exempt from the law, but he advised us to be careful of professional fund-raisers.
