    EULOGY:

    MAURI WILLIAMSON presented fond memories of and a EULOGY for John DeCamp.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • The Salvation Army bell ringing produced $4,624 ($1,052.80 came from the West Lafayette WalMart (a record for one location!). The envelopes have brought in another $4,520 with only 53 members participating. We will be happy to accept your contribution at any time in the next two or three weeks.

    • There will be a Holiday Open House at the home of JANE TURNER on Sunday, December 21st from 4:00 -- 8:00 p.m. 1304 Columbia Street is on the right side of the street as you go down the hill. If parking on the left side of the street is full (no parking on the right side allowed), try 14th Street between Main and Columbia or 13th Street between Columbia and South. Food and refreshments will be provided. You'll need to provide the conversation. Drop in after your shopping or basketball game.

    • Please join fellow Rotarians for an evening at the Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre on Sunday, February 22 for the play CATS. We would like to car pool to Indianapolis and sit together for the 6:30 dinner. The group rate is $36.50 per person for 20 reservations. Please call ADRIENNE BOUGH at 420-8020 or 420-1361 with your reservation by December 19.

    • Our December 30th will be a family oriented meeting. Bring children, grandchildren, brothers or sisters! The buffet menu will be "kid friendly" and the program will most likely be provided by Imagination Station or something similar in nature. Cost for lunch: $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children

    AMBASSADORIAL SCHOLAR:

    TERRY WEST introduced Leslie Taulman, the recipient of a $25,000 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar for study abroad. Nominated by Daybreak, she was selected from many highly qualified applicants by the District. She will go to Bolivia, a nation about the size of France and Germany combined with a population of eight million. For eleven months she will live with an American woman in Santa Cruz while she studies and conducts research on aspects of health care in Bolivia. We look forward to hearing about her experiences when she returns.

    PROGRAM:

    President BETTY introduced John Norberg, author of Wings of Their Dreams, his fourth book. As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of flight this week, John described the event documented by photographs, and went on to tell stories of the major players in the history of flight, from airplanes to space ships. He even sang a song inspired by "flying machines". Purdue has been and continues to be a leader in flight and space flight. There will be a book signing from 6-8 Monday at Barnes and Nobles.     ED PAGE introduced Claire Mills and Henry Arth from Central Catholic High School. They received a certificate and a travel mug with the four-way test to commemorate their visit with us.
