    PRESIDENT BETTY SUDDARTH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; ED PAGE; FAE SPURLOCK; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER; BOB BROCK, and PHIL KLINGER who is undergoing surgery this Friday at the I.U. Med Center.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • BETTY announced that Salvation Army contributions total $14,213.00 from 122 members. We are now at a level slightly above our lowest in the past several years.     • Nominations are now being taken for District Governor. If you or someone you know in our club would be interested in serving the District in this important capacity, please contact BETTY or JANE.

    • The Indiana Chapter of the Partners of the Americas offers youths ages 14-18 the opportunity of an up to 8 week homestay with a Brazilian family in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

      To meet youth from that state, and Hoosier leaders of the program, attend a social gathering at St. Luke's Methodist Church at 86th and Meridian in Indianapolis form 1:30 until 3:30 PM on Sunday February 1.

    • A letter from TOM BRANUM regarding Rotary's Council on Legislation:
      Dear District 6560 Rotarian:
      In only a few months, delegates from all Rotary Districts in the world will be gathering in Chicago to consider changes to the laws governing our great organization. This is the first of several summary messages to members of our district in which I will summarize selected proposals and solicit your feedback.     • The Future Leaders Committee of Vision 2020 is offering the first Leadership Film Festival on Tuesday, February 17, 2004. This is an opportunity to view and discuss films that present challenges faced by group decision makers.
      Three films will be viewed with discussion led by Eileen Steele and Joanne Troutner. The program is free and open to all residents high school age and older.

      Place: County Extension Building, 3150 Sagamore Parkway South.
      Date: Tuesday, February 17, 2004. Time: 7:00 -9:00 PM.

    PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBERS:

    The Board of Directors approved Cecil Blignaut and Jeanne Norberg to become new members. They will be introduced in the near future.

    PROGRAM:

    TOM SCHMIDT introduced TOM FISHER, a member of the Indianapolis Downtown Rotary Club, who led the Outbound GSE team to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi in 2002. His slide presentation showed us highlights of the trip including the participants and the host Rotarians. He concluded with the statement that the trip had a tremendous impact him and on each member of the team.

    STUDENT GUESTS:

    KEN EWING introduced Megan Kelly and Jeff Peck from West Lafayette High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug with the four- way test to commemorate meeting with us.

    • FOUNDATION FACTOID: Did you know that the Lafayette Rotary Foundation's investment funds grew 6.4% last year? (The goal was 5%.)
