    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • LES REKER gave us a miniature Purdue Porker, the pig that sat at the top of State Street hill at Chauncey Hill Mall, to auction off. JACK KELLEY did a magnificent job as auctioneer. Thanks to RAY KAVANAUGH for being top bidder at $50.00.

    • SUSAN HYCHKA announces that our Annual Dinner will be held on Tuesday, May 4, at 6:00 p.m., University Inn Ball Room. Please save the date and invite your spouse or significant other. More information about the evening's events soon...stay tuned.

    • Annual Dinner Committee will meet after the regular meeting on Tuesday, March 23, at the back of the room work. Additional committee members interested in creating a program that celebrates our Lafayette Rotary accomplishments are needed. Please join us at this meeting.

    • Several members requested a copy of the prayer given by SUSAN HYCHKA on March 9th.
Here is the link to it:

    • The next Shots Not Spots will be March 23rd at the Tippecanoe County Health Department, 629 North 6th Street (not at the Community Health Clinic as previously printed in error).

    • We received a thank you letter from the Indianapolis Rotary Club for our support of Zimbabwe Famine Relief.

    • Anyone interested in attending the Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre production of Godspell playing from March 18 - April 11, please contact ADRIENNE BOUGH.

    • In order to avoid being placed on a committee you feel you have little interest in, please fill out the Committee Selection Sheet and return it to TOM SCHMIDT or to JANE as soon as possible.

    • FRED ANDERSON, Co-Chair of the GSE Committee, announced that host families are needed for two team members - one male and one female. Anyone able to help should contact FRED ANDERSON or GORGON COPPOC.

    • Nominations for Rotarian of the Year are being accepted. Forms for this award, which is presented at the Annual Dinner, are available from JANE.

    • President BETTY announced the District Conference to be held in Muncie the weekend of April 16 - 18. You can get more information click here or contact JANE.

    • Rotary License plates are still available. Of the $25.00 extra you will pay to have this special identification, $15.00 returns to our club. This is a fairly painless way to support Rotary and to demonstrate your pride in belonging to one of the world's finest organizations. Bruce has put a downloadable copy of the application form on our home page. Click on on "Rotary license plate application" in the left hand column.

    WELCOME NEW MEMBER:

JAN MILLS introduced Ann H. Hunt, Professor Emeritus, School of Nursing, Purdue University. She lives with her husband, Dick, at 1149 Hillcrest Road, West Lafayette, IN 47906, phone 463-5839 E-Mail: annhunt@insightbb.com

    PROGRAM:

DAVE LAHR introduced Rotarian LES REKER, director of the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, who reminded us that "It starts with ART." The museum, which began in 1909 as an art center, is the only accredited museum between Indianapolis and Chicago. Funding challenges are the same for all non-profit organizations, but partnerships with other institutions have enabled the museum to increase its educational programs four fold. Our Art Museum has great art, good facilities, superior staff, dedicated volunteers, exciting exhibitions, great educational programming, community commitment, a growing museum store, and powerful friends (the Smithsonian Institution).

    STUDENT GUESTS:

EARL PARK introduced Alberto Salazar and Charlotte Hass (niece of MARGARET HALL and granddaughter of MARGARET'S sister Caroline Hass) from Jefferson High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug with the four- way test to commemorate meeting with us.

    GUESTS:

Ellen Reker, wife of LES REKER; Jaewoong Kim, Ambassadorial Scholar and guest of AL CHISCON; Caroline Hass, sister of MARGARET HALL; Gilbert Rochon, guest of CHRIS JOHANNSEN.

THANKS TO THOSE WHO HELP WITH MEETING FUNCTION:
