    CLUB CONCERNS:

    CLUB CONCERNS PRESIDENT BETTY SUDDARTH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; FAE SPURLOCK; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER, and BOB WILKINSON.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • Don't forget to get your tickets for Our Annual Dinner next Tuesday evening. Camaraderie (with a cash bar) begins at 6:00p.m. and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Opera de Lafayette's "Opera in a Briefcase." is providing entertainment. Tickets are $25/person and will be available until Friday April 30th. Please come and bring your spouse and/or special guests.
    • For tickets contact SUSAN HYCHKA.

    • The Red Cross is conducting a fund drive through the sale of First Aid kits. The kits cost $25 which is totally tax deductible. For more information or to order a kit contact JERRY COLE.

    • Dues are due by May 1st. Please respond NOW so that your name won't be mentioned at the Board Meeting.

    • Leadership Lafayette is hosting a luncheon on Thursday, May 6th at the YWCA focusing on Business Ethics. Frank Walker is the featured speaker. Cost: $15.00 per person. Reservations due by Thursday, April 29th. Contact CHRISTIE SMITH for more details.

    • The next Family of Rotary social event will be at The Museum at Prophetstown Farmhouse Suppers. This will be held on Sunday, May 23rd at 5:00 p.m. and will include the meal in the farmhouse and horse-drawn ride. The minimum number of reservations is 8 and the cost is $35/person. Make your reservation with ADRIENNE BOUGH by May 11th.

    • Rotary License plates are still available. Of the $25.00 extra you will pay to have this special identification, $15.00 returns to our club. This is a fairly painless way to support Rotary and to demonstrate your pride in belonging to one of the world's finest organizations.

    PROGRAM:

    STELLA BATAGIANNIS, co-chair of the Community Service Committee, introduced and thanked the committee members and others who have helped to develop a plan for service projects that are both short term and long term in nature. She explained the concept of Reaching Out to Our Neighbors and helping the various agencies who serve the homeless with providing basic needs efficiently.
    STELLA then introduced Jennifer Layton, director of the Transitional Housing Center. Jennifer, speaking for all the agencies that work with the homeless, described some of the programs and the challenges of providing help. Substance abuse and mental health issues are the major cause of homelessness, but the working poor are also clients.

    JOHN SANDERSON introduced Diane Webb from Ivy Tech State College. She received a certificate and a travel mug with the four- way test to commemorate meeting with us.
