    CLUB CONCERNS:

    PRESIDENT BETTY SUDDARTH, requested members/spouses to keep the following in their thoughts and prayers: JOHN and EUDORA MC KEE; FAE SPURLOCK; Marjorie spouse of DICK WALKER, and BOB WILKINSON.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • President BETTY thanked SUSAN HYCHKA and the Annual Dinner Committee members for a wonderful Annual Dinner last week.

    • JIM TURLEY announces that the Club International Foundation Committee will meet in the Rotary lunchroom at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, 25 May.

    • The Red Cross is conducting a fund drive through the sale of First Aid kits. The kits cost $25 which is totally tax deductible. for more information or to order a kit contact JERRY COLE

    • The next Family of Rotary social event will be at The Museum at Prophetstown Farmhouse Suppers. This will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 5:00 p.m. and will include the meal in the farmhouse and horse- drawn ride. The cost is $35/person payable with your reservation by May 14th. Contact ADRIENNE BOUGH.

    • Please help JIM KLUSMAN get out of "jail" on June 15. At 12:45 that day a law enforcement officer will arrive at his office to take him to "jail," and he needs to raise $600 for our local Muscular Dystrophy Association fund drive to "get out." If you can help, please send a check made out to Muscular Distrophy Association to JIM at 1308 Castle Drive, Lafayette, 47905. Or, please call him at his office (742-9078 -- leave a voicemail if he's not available) or email JIM and he'll make arrangements for you to make your tax-deductible contribution. Oh -- something else: "jail" is our local O'Charley's Restaurant, where he'll be fed while doing hard time. JIM says, "I know -- it's a terrible sacrifice on my part, but someone has to do it. Thanks!!"

    • DAVE LAHR encouraged members to complete the Community Service Projects Survey. He also reminded us that June is "Bring an Intern (or Doctoral Student) to Lunch" month. Make plans now.

    • The Lebanon Club's Golf Outing is scheduled for June 9th. See BETTY for details if interested.

    • LES REKER, chair of the Culture Committee, said that May is a busy month. Here are a few events to put on your calendar:

      PROGRAM:

      LETA KELLEY introduced Cheryl Ubelor, Director of the Crisis Center since 1998. Cheryl explained that 103 volunteers keep the Crisis Center open 365 days a year 24 hours a day. There is extensive training for volunteers and help is available in 40 languages. She explained the many programs offered by the center; that they are funded by the United Way, both cities, the county, grants, individual donors and fund raising activities; and that there is a 20 person board of directors. She concluded by answering several very good questions.

      STUDENT GUESTS:

      PAUL POST introduced Bonnie Stockwell and Christopher Sprunger from Jefferson High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug with the four- way test to commemorate meeting with us.
