ROTARY FACT:
International Education - Rotary is the world's
largest privately funded source of international
scholarships. Each year, nearly 1,000 university students
receive Rotary scholarships to study in another country.
Rotary clubs also coordinate a high school-age student
exchange program that sends nearly 8,000 students abroad
for 3 months to a year.

PROGRAM:
CHRIS JOHANSSEN, program chair for the month of August,
introduced MORGAN BURKE, who served as master of ceremonies.
He introduced MARTIN JISCHKE who invited everyone to the
Sunday football game against Syracuse. A full stadium would
help our players. He praised Dave Shondell, Joe Tiller and
the student athletes and thanked all who support athletics
at Purdue.
Dave
Shondell, Purdue Volleyball Coach, thanked the service
organizations for their work in the community. He recognized
the high school volleyball coaches with appreciation for
preparing talent for the Purdue roster. The team is building
with potential to be back in the top five teams in the
country. He encouraged us to come to a match and cheer on a
great team. Joe Tiller, Purdue Football Coach, promoted
membership in the National Football College Hall of Fame. At
a cost of $40 per year, more members from this area would be
able to vote to recognize Purdue players. He said the team
is healthy, has bright new faces and is talented
offensively. A short description of players we might not
know was given followed by a short question/answer
opportunity.

A
Moment of Humor:
Hopefully Our Purdue and High School Coaches
wonÄôt have to deal with the likes of the
following true story taken from the LA Times some time
ago.
Coach Frank Layden of the Utah Jazz asked forward Jeff
Wilkins, "Is your bad play due to ignorance or apathy?"
Wilkins replied, "I don't know and I don't care!"
