ANNOUNCEMENTS:
With the Lafayette Rotary Club assistance, Rotaract collected over 200 pounds of food for the recent food drive by the Purdue Boiler Volunteer
Network. Thank you for your generous contributions.
Want to see fellow Rotarians at work? Maybe you want to show that you really do work! If you are interested in touring the business of a member or in hosting such a tour, contact JOE BOORMAN.
CARL REW reminded us to sign up for your time and place to ring the bell for Salvation Army on December 11th. There are 38 open slots to choose from.
FRITZ COHEN asked for volunteers to fill gift boxes for the YWCA’s Women’s Shelter on Friday, December 3rd. Please contact FRITZ.
There are eight tickets not being used for the Indianapolis Colts/SanDeigo Chargers 1 PM game on December 26 at the RCA Dome. These tickets were given to the workers at Hanna Center on Vectron Work Day in October, and they cannot use them. The tickets are in a group together in Section 331, rows 25 and 26, so you will be with other Rotarians.
We are going to hold a SILENT AUCTION for these tickets beginning at the meeting November 30 and going until December 14, when we will announce the winners during the meeting. You will bid on each ticket you want. There will be a sheet on the board at the back of the room for you to make your bids. The money raised from this Auction will go toward upcoming Community Projects. Any questions - see DAVE LAHR.
DAVID BOUGH, Nominating Committee Chair, announces that election of Directors and Officers will held Tuesday December 7, 2004. Nominations will be accepted from the membership, but must be in the hands of the Nominations Committee by Friday November 26, 2004. Each nomination must have written support of two (2) additional members and the written consent of the nominee.
If you would be interested in going to Chicago on the Saturday preceding the start of the Rotary International Convention to rub elbows with Rotarians from all over the world and to see a big parade through the heart of the city, please sign up on the bulletin boards. This is a survey to see if there will be enough interest to charter a bus.

ROTARY FACT:
November is Rotary International Foundation month and one of the
programs supported by your annual giving is in the area of Special Project
Implementation with Revolving Loans, also called microcredit or village
banking. These projects are primarily
instituted in Third World countries where low-income persons are organized to
borrow money, animals or equipment to facilitate small economic self-help
enterprises. The funds continue to revolve; funds are loaned to beneficiaries,
repaid and loaned again, hopefully in perpetuity.
A village bank, a credit group is a group of ten to thirty borrowers, organized, educated and trained in the rudiments of saving, credit and entrepreneurship, who cross-guarantee each others' loans to ensure repayment to the fund.
PROGRAM:
BARB REIF introduced fellow Rotarian JACOB WILLIAMS, senior pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church. He presented several thoughts about Thanksgiving. After sharing a moving story of a motherless child in Iowa who grew up to be a famous Doctor, JACOB concluded by saying that Thanksgiving is not just a day to remember what we have; it is also a day to remember what we have to give. Marla Stanton sang You Raise Me Up
to end the program.
STUDENT GUESTS:
GREG REGER introduced Paul Hoffman from Indiana Business College. He received a certificate and a travel mug with the four- way test to commemorate meeting with us.
VISITING ROTARIAN:
MAUREEN SMITT, Ft. Myers, South, FL; ED ELLIOTT, Naples, FL.

TOM’S HUMOR:
In “A Thanksgiving Cookbook by Mrs. Geraghty's Kindergarten Class” the following ways to prepare Thanksgiving dinner were offered by kids. Let me share just a few of their ways to cook.
NOTE: Mrs. Geraghty will not be responsible for medical bills resulting
from use of her cookbook.
Irene – Turkey
Put it on a plate and put it in the oven with gravy. You cook it for 1
minute and for 100 degrees. Then it's all cooked. Your mom or dad cuts it and
then eat.
Grace – Turkey
First you add some salt. Then you put it in a bowl. Then you put brown
sugar on it. Then you mix it all together with a spoon and then you add some
milk and mix it again. And then you put it in a pan. Then you put it in the
oven for 15 minutes and 16 degrees. Then you take it out of the oven and then
you eat it.
Moriah – Turkey
First you cut the bones out. Then you put it in the oven for 10 hours
at 600 degrees. Then you put it on the table and eat it.
Alan – Turkey
First you shoot it and then you cut it. And then you put it in the oven
and cook it for 10 minutes and 20 degrees. You put it on plates and then you
eat it.
Lauren – Turkey
First you find a turkey and kill it. Cut it open. Put it in a pan. Pour
milk in the pan. Put a little chicken with it. Put salsa on it. Take out of
pan. Put it on the board. Cut into little pieces. Put on a rack. Put in the
oven for 7 minutes at 10 degrees. Take out of the oven and put eensy weensy bit
of sugar on it. Put a little more salsa on it. Then you eat it.
Christopher - Pumpkin Pie
First you buy a pumpkin and smash it. Then it is all done. And you cook
it in the oven for 12 minutes and 4 degrees. Then you eat it.
JANE’S CORNER:
Beginning Tuesday, January 4, 2005, the price for lunch will be $10. If you have ever made up a meeting in another city (and especially in another country) you know that this is still a bargain.
