    • Past District Governor BILL HATFIELD brought us up to date on the most recent Gift of Life recipient, an 18 month old boy from Afghanistan with serious heart defects. He will be in surgery tomorrow. This child was found in a refugee camp by a physician from the Greenfield Club who was serving in the National Guard in Afghanistan. Two additional children will arrive from El Salvador this week for surgery at Riley's Children Hospital as well. Since the inception of the program seven years ago, while BILL was District Governor, the lives of 61children have been restored to normal following heart surgery at Riley and St. Vincent hospitals. Rotary pays only $5,000 to the hospital for each surgery performed. Funds are needed to continue this humanitarian project.
