    ROTARY FACT:

You can find this information on the Rotary International Web-site:

A 14-month-old Afghan boy, Qudrat Ullah, successfully underwent open-heart surgery at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, on 8 March. The Rotary Club of Greenfield facilitated Qudrat's trip to the United States through its Gift of Life program and helped cover costs for the boy's $50,000 surgery. Gift of Life International was launched in 1974 by the Rotary Club of Manhasset, New York, USA, to provide surgeries to children with life- threatening heart conditions. It has since helped some 4,000 children from more than 60 countries worldwide. The Greenfield club has provided lifesaving surgeries for more than 60 children.

What you will not find is that The Gift of Life program for our District 6560 was initiated seven years ago under the direction of Past District Governor Bill Hatfield. Also that Qudrat and his father are staying with Rotarians Jim and Roberta Graham as Qudrat is quarantined for 3 weeks for chicken pox. PROGRAM BLOCK

    PRESIDENT TOM'S WISDOM:

Morris walks out into the street and manages to get a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cab driver says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Dave."

    "Who?"

"Dave Aronson. There's a guy who did everything right. Like my coming along when you needed a cab. It would have happened like that to Dave."

"There are always a few clouds over everybody," says Morris.

"Not Dave. He was a terrific athlete. He could have gone on the pro tour in tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star."

    "He was something, huh?"

"He had a memory like a trap. Could remember everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which fork to eat with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and I black out the whole neighborhood."

    "No wonder you remember him."

"Well, I never actually met Dave."

"Then how do you know so much about him?" asks Morris.

    "Because I married his widow."
