    ROTARY FACT:

The Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Program

A Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member is a person who contributes US$100 or more per year to the Annual Programs Fund.

Why are Rotary Foundation Sustaining Members critical to the Foundation?

Rotarians recognize that without sustained support of the Annual Programs Fund, the programs of The Rotary Foundation cannot happen. With contributions of US$100 from every member every year, Rotary could nearly double its efforts to help needy people the world over, supporting the continued growth of programs. In April 2001, the Council on Legislation unanimously passed a resolution approving the goal of US$100 per capita by the year 2005.

What a great difference is made with just a $100 donation per year, but you can give more, but that should be the minimum donation of every Rotarian in the Lafayette Club. Presently about 20% of our club members have given to the Annual Fund. Is that enough?

    THANK YOU:

A lovely card was received from Twila Dowell with the hand written note saying "God Bless You All, as you spread sunshine around the world! You have made my life a little brighter. Many, many thanks to everyone.

    "She also wrote a letter.

    Dear Lafayette Noon Rotary Members,

It was a great honor to be included in your luncheon on March 29 at the University Inn. I was moved to meet the little face that I have seen on TV so much in the past month. And what a great difference you have made in that child's life. Your members should feel great pride in the things you have accomplished, with the honorable gifts you have given to so many. The Gift of Life program impressed me as much as your contribution to my future.

I wanted to write a little thank you letter, just to express my appreciation in your efforts to help others. Your scholarship donation in my future success is greatly appreciated. After returning home, while boasting about my afternoon, I found out that my grandfather was a Rotarian himself. As if I needed more to impress me of your organization, my respect grew even more when I found this out. I would be honored to learn more about your memberships. I can't remember the last time I was so moved during one meal.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful donation and definitely keep up the great work that you all do, and thank you so much for making me a part of it.

    Respectfully yours,
    Twila J. Dowell
    Future IT Professional

    ANOTHER THANK YOU:

    Dear Jane,

My cousin, Jay Wiley, Jr., asked me to send a note thanking the Lafayette Rotary Club for the memorial donation to the Lafayette Rotary Foundation. Jay and our whole family appreciates your thoughtfulness in memory of my uncle, Jay Wiley, Sr. He was a strong supporter of Rotary and would have been pleased.

    PRESIDENT TOM'S WISDOM:

A true story of a college Philosophy Exam:

A college student in a philosophy class was taking his first examination. On the paper there was a single line which simply said: "Is this a question?" - Discuss.

After a short time he wrote: "If that is a question, then this is an answer."

The student received an "A" on the exam.
