    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • SUSAN announced the dedication of the Riverfront Overlook (our Centennial Project) will be held Tuesday, May 31st at 1:30 following our regular meeting. Instruction on where to park will be announced. It is hoped that we will have a respectable contingent of Rotarians present for this important event.

We are planting flowers at the overlook on Wednesday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Rain date, Friday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Joe Payne says we could use 20 people!

    • The Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club is proud to announce Indiana Rotary Clubs had 400 special license plates sold in 2004. Many thanks to all the great Rotarians Statewide for their support and for displaying these "moving billboards" while CELEBRATING ROTARY across the state. More importantly, these plates will heighten the awareness of Rotary's good works every where we drive.

To ensure Indiana Rotary License Plates (IRLP) will be available for many years to come, we have to maintain a level of 500 sales per year. If you ordered one last year or making a first time purchase, submit your application form now. You must have a validated IRLP application form when you go to the BMV to get your new plate or mail in for a renewal sticker.

      http://www.rotary6560.org/Plate05.doc

RENEWALS or NEW APPLICATIONS MUST BE VALIDATED BEFORE VISITING YOUR BMV!!!

The fee structure is designed to share the revenue among all Rotary Clubs in Indiana and to offer clubs an opportunity to raise funds for various projects. $15 from every sale is rebated to the Purchaser's designated Rotary Club.
This 100 Year Commemorative License Plate is sure to be a Collector's Item (We have had many calls from other States expressing their compliments on our plate design).

Get on board and order or renew your plate today! Please ensure all members of your Club are aware that they too should Step Up to the Plate!!!

    • PHIL KLINGER announced the Golf Tournament scheduled for June 30th at the Lafayette Elks Club at 1:00 P.M. California scramble. Prizes. Co-ed. $50 to play. The funds collected will go toward Polio Eradication.

    THANK YOU:

Dear Contributor to the Solidarity in South Asia Fund:

Thank you for reaching out through your recent contribution to the victims of the tsunami that hit South Asia on 26 December 2004. Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation are in close contact with Rotary leaders in areas impacted by this expansive natural disaster. Contributions made through The Rotary Foundation will support long-term humanitarian efforts that Rotary clubs and districts in South Asia identify.

It is difficult to grasp the destruction left in the tsunami's wake. It is further troubling to contemplate the pain of those left behind to face a new year where hope and optimism are in short supply and mourning has replaced everyday routine. Despite our sincerest desire, we cannot reduce the pain caused by this devastating event. We can simply offer our hands, and extend the tools and resources to help rebuild communities. In so doing, we contribute our humble wish for Solidarity in South Asia.

We are moved by the vast concern that connects Rotarians and friends of Rotary to their fellow human beings around the world. Rotary International is truly a grassroots organization, ready to embrace those in need wherever that need may arise.

May the hope you extend with your kind gesture nourish not only their bodies, but touch the hearts and minds of the people struggling to restore their lives.

    Again, thank you.
    B. Holger Hansen
    Fund Development Manager

Editor's Note: Our club sent $858.00 to RI for Tsunami Relief.

    THANK YOU:

Dear Jane: Please extend my heartfelt thank you to the membership of the Lafayette Rotary Club for honoring me with the Rotarian of the Year Award? I was so stunned and surprised at the dinner last night that I was speechless. I truly appreciate this honor and recognition from an organization that puts "Service above Self". Betty Suddarth

    PROGRAM:

Vice President JAN GRIFFIN KOEHLER introduced and thanked the members of the the Annual Dinner Committee, the Board of Directors of both the Club and Lafayette Rotary Foundation. She also acknowledged Paul Harris Fellows and Golden Service contributors. Ambassadorial Scholars Li Ting Huang and Lesley Taulman were introduced, as well as Rotaract member Ben Birtles.

District Governor Elect MARTIN LIMBIRD brought greetings from the District and presented a short video on the Wheelchair Foundation. This Rotary sponsored project is providing mobility for thousands of people around the globe. Our district has selected a Rotary district in central Mexico to supply with wheelchairs.
