    ROTARY FACT:

100 years ago in early May, the Secretary of Lafayette Rotary wrote that President Thomas Moran would be the official delegate to the Cincinnati International Convention, and that Abner Werkhoff would also attend. "We also wish to call to your attention? He wrote, "that Lafayette is situated on what is known as a Dustless Air Line and is now a part of the National Highway," And again he wrote, "Keep your eve on the Kid." We suppose the "kid" our first Secretary referred to, was the "club".

    PROGRAM:
STAN MITHOEFER introduced David Schleppenbock, CEO and founder of gh LLC. David told us of the founding and growth of his company, which is located across Sagamore Parkway from the hotel, in Purdue Research Park. The company has developed Computer Technology for various disabled people, mainly students. The company's studies show that 90% of students in US are disabled some way. Among the many items, the company has produced tax forms, audio books, special test forms for the blind, and flash book products for the deaf. Last December they recorded producing 1.3 million pages of text in brail. When asked what the company name stood for, he explained that the logo are three triangular dots that represent the g and h in brail, therefore "gh".

    SCENES FROM THE CONVENTION:

    VP JAN'S WISDOM:

A young businessman had just started his own firm. He'd rented a beautiful office and had it furnished with antiques. Sitting there, he saw a man come into the outer office. Wishing to appear the hot shot, the businessman picked up the phone and started to pretend he had a big deal working. He threw huge figures around and made giant commitments. Finally he hung up and asked the visitor, "Can I help you?"

The man said, "Yeah, I've come to activate your phone lines."
