    VOCATIONAL MOMENT:

KIRK CLARK, chair of our membership recruitment and retention committee, announced that we may lose several members who have not met the attendance requirement. He asked all of us to be looking for potential members who will be interested in participating in Rotary. KIRK then went on to tell us of his early career as a Veterinarian in the northern part of the state. While in a mixed practice in Rensselaer he became a Rotarian and maintained a 70% attendance record for the 15 years he was there. He went back to school to receive a PhD at the University of Minnesota before joining the Purdue Vet School. He has served as Head of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences for the past seven years.

    PROGRAM:

BOB HANNEMANN, a Pediatrician at Arnett Clinic and a Rotarian since 1965, started his career as a Chemical Engineer. BOB has used his engineering knowledge in the fields of Child Psychology, Pediatrics and Biomedical Engineering. His current activity involves the Regenstreif Center for Healthcare Engineering, a research facility with wide Purdue University involvement, located in the new E-Enterprises Building. Involving engineers to improve healthcare delivery was a dream of Sam Regenstreif and a passion of BOB HANNEMANN.

    • There are 33 members who have not met the 25% attendance requirement. Of those, 17 came to 2 or fewer meetings in the past 6 months. The Membership Recruitment and Retention Committee will be grappling with ways to resolve this problem. You can help by encouraging anyone you know who is not participating to make Rotary a priority.
