The population will comprise K to 12. Twelve volunteers - three per shift - will be needed. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board or contact FRITZ.

    VOCATIONAL MOMENT:
JO WADE grew up in West Lafayette, graduated from Purdue in Communications and started an ad agency in Madison, WI with two of her brothers. A call from Purdue to work in the multi-media department brought her back to Lafayette, and although this job vanished while she was en route, a window eventually opened for her when she was recommended to the Executive Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. JO views HARLEY GRIFFITH, long time president of CVB, as her mentor. She is celebrating 25 years in the field of tourism.
    CONGRATULATIONS:
DAVE BOUGH presented GORDON COPPOC with Paul Harris recognition. Thanks, GORDON, for your generous contributions to the work of Rotary around the world.

    PROGRAM:
JEANNE NORBERG introduced Sally Hastings, History Professor at Purdue, who helped us understand the news we hear about the conflict between China and Japan over the content of history textbooks. Under the heading of "All politics is local", China is keeping memories of World War II alive for political reasons and Japan is promoting patriotism for it's own agenda. Truth in textbooks depends on the political structure of the nation involved. YOU SHOULD HAVE A PHOTO CROPPED APPROPRIATELY

    VISITING ROTARIANS:

MAUREEN SMITT, Ft. Myers South, FL; ED ELLIOTT, Naples, FL

    GUESTS:

Karen Hirsh-Cooper, guest of MIKE PIGGOTT; Alberta Barker, guest of ARVID OLSON; Pauline Shen, guest of BARB REIF; Martha Hoyos, wife of ANDREAS SANCHEZ; and Harriet Coppoc, wife of GORDON COPPOC.

    JANE'S ADVICE:

Try to keep cool by thinking "Jingle Bell's" (which we sang today) and start the day by eating a toad, knowing that nothing else that happens that day will be worse.
