    • Every Rotarian Every Year for The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International: Our latest numbers: $8,083 from 73 contributors (34%), a per capita contribution to the Annual Programs Fund of $35.14.

    ROTARY FACT:

The December Rotarian reports that as of 30 June 2005, Rotary posted a net gain of 4,765 members over the previous Rotary year, with membership worldwide at 1,224,297. But not every region has contributed to this achievement. A few countries lost membership in 2004-05. In Canada and the United States - birthplace of Rotary and home to its headquarters - clubs showed a net loss of 4,402 members from 30 June 2004 to 30 June 2005. The inability of US Rotary clubs to retain experienced members is a primary reason for the decline. Major challenges include the increased mobility of our workforce and less time to attend meetings. Japan, Central and South America, Australia and the South Pacific also posted decreases. Increases came in Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Philippines.

    PROGRAM:
SUSAN introduced JUDY WITT, past president of the Bloomington Rotary Club and current Assistant District Governor 6580 (the southern 1/3 of Indiana) who is also President of Teachers Warehouse. For their centennial project, the three Rotary Clubs in Bloomington joined forces to create a place where teachers can acquire items they need for their students. The warehouse is stocked by donations from manufacturers and retailers or individuals. The merchandise may be slightly damaged or extra. The Teachers Warehouse is a 501c3 organization with a 5,100 square foot warehouse. The commitment takes capital (about $65,000 this year), lots of volunteers and committees and the attitude that it will be sustained for many years. It was an inspiring program, which generated discussion with JUDY after the meeting.

    VISITING ROTARIANS:

    LEE WITT, Bloomington, IN.

    STUDENT GUESTS:

LEW RUNNELS introduced Emily Pairitz and Taylor Pence from McCutcheon High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug with the four-way test to commemorate meeting with us.

    PRESIDENT SUSAN'S WISDOM:

    If ran Christmas...

Each time you bought an ornament, you would have to buy a tree as well. You wouldn't have to take the tree, but you still have to pay for it anyway. Ornament/95 would weigh 1500 pounds, draw enough electricity to power a small city, take up 95% of the space in your living room, would claim to be the first ornament that uses the colors red/green together. It would interrogate your other decorations to find out who made them. Most everyone would hate Microsoft ornaments, but nonetheless would buy them since most of the other tree types wouldn't work with their hooks.

    If ran Christmas...

Every month, you would receive another lovely hand-crafted item from an authentic Civil War pewter ornament collection. Each ornament would weight about 7 pounds, and require you to pay shipping and handling charges.

    If ran Christmas...

The staff would sell you ornaments, but not know anything about them or what they were for. Or you could buy parts to build your own tree.
