    THANK YOU:

    Dear Rotary Club Members:

I want to thank you for inviting me to your luncheon meeting. I had a great time talking to everyone! I also learned about what the Rotary Club is. I must admit that before I came to our meeting, I had no idea what the Rotary Club organization was all about. After going to your meeting and doing some research on my own, I discovered what a great organization Rotary Club is. I want to thank you for everything you do both in the Lafayette community and around the world. I know that you influence many young lives with the work you do, especially the Taiwanese student who spoke. It was an honor and privilege to attend your luncheon meeting.

    Sincerely,
    Lauren R. Russell
    Jefferson High School Senior

    PROGRAM:
Sidney Thomas from Vectren was introduced by JAN KOHLER. Sidney discussed why everyone's fuel costs have gone up. Gas cost to Vectren in this area have increased about 35%. There are many factors but one factor is that many of the Hurricane Katrina area oil wells are still not up and operating and won't be any time soon. He suggests that you take measure in your own hands to help reduce your costs. Do all the things you can to make your house energy efficient, from changing your furnace filters to insulation and eliminate dripping faucets. Consider budget billing and pay your bills on time.

Dominic Sauvage from Johannesburg, South Africa visited us today while attending the Purdue Pest Control Conference. END VISITOR BLOCK

-The Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

If you could meet anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?
-I would meet my father who passed away in 1980.
    -Ronald Reagan
    -FDR

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do?
-I love what I do. My next choice would be teaching history or something a bit theatrical.

What was the last good book you read? Spandau Phoenix by Greg Iles

    What is your favorite movie?
    -Dances with Wolves
    -Notting Hill

What is in your CD/tape player?
    -Willie Nelson
    -Alan Bogavich from PMO
    -Dr. Harley Frey's fun tape

What's the one thing you would like to learn next in life?
-I want to find time to take college courses. I love history and the arts.

-The Community Health Clinic is always in need of assistance.
-Family Services Inc. is also in need of assistance.

What events/experiences have most shaped your life?
-I accepted the Lord as a teenager, but after my children were born I truly came to know that God is in charge of my life. I've questioned how he works from time to time but I do understand he shaped my life.
-My husband, Jerry, has been a huge influence in my business life as well as my personal life. He has loved my children and set the example that it is possible to be totally honest and yet be very successful. He has also taught us all that "gentle" does not always mean "weak!"
-Seeing my children graduate from Purdue with honors was an amazing blessing.
-Our travels have taught me that the people of the world are pretty much the same, even though our cultures may be different. With the exception of the radical terrorists, they all honor their families and love each member with the same passion Americans feel. If only the entire world could visit each other with an open mind; there would not be so much war.
