    PROGRAM:

JOHN SANDERSN introduced Ed Williams, Executive Director of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, who unofficially dubbed this year the Season of Search for a new conductor. A recent strategic plan for the orchestra set out three goals: 1) Performance excellence, 2) Outreach and education, 3) Resources to make goals 1 and 2 happen. He reviewed the five finalists (whittled down from 157 at the outset) in the conductor search and told us a little about each of the guest artists for the coming season. Each conductor will be in town for one week of activity, which includes a meet and greet opportunity for the community.

    PRESIDENT JAN'S THOUGHTS:

How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it. --Jim Valvano
