    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • BETTY NELSON, chair of Vocational Moments, explained the new structure for presentations and encouraged volunteers to share one of their vocational experiences.

    • JOHN TROTT told us that last Saturday was a good day for BBQ Chicken sales. TIM LUZADER purchased 35 for his staff tailgate party. This Saturday is the next opportunity to sell chicken (or get your chicken!). It is the last home game until October 21st.

    • PHIL SWAIN announced that Gus Macker is one week from this weekend! Volunteers are needed starting Friday, September 29th. Court sponsors are still needed. Contact PHIL or TOM FREY with your volunteer hours and sponsorship dollars. We have a playground to build, so all contributions (time and money) will be greatly appreciated!


    CONGRATULATIONS:

    BILL LOVELL presented JIM TURLEY with his 3rd Paul Harris Fellow recognition of giving to The Rotary Foundation.
    A proud wife, Mary Jo, fastened the new pin on his lapel.

    PROGRAM:

    GORDON KINGMA introduced 1977 Purdue Engineering grad, Jim Elsner, who now earns his living at Butler International, located in the old Whirlpool building in Purdue Research Park. Jim told us that Butler is a 60 year-old company unmatched in Engineering Services. They have $287 Million in revenues, 3,400 employees and 27 locations all over the U.S. and world. The local facility employs 100 designers and engineers, with room for 60 more. Many companies have been Butler clients for more than 20 years. Current large clients include Sikorsky Helicopters and Caterpillar.
