Rotary District 6860

August 2015

This first month of serving as district governor has passed very quickly.  It has been busy with clubs writing district grants, district governor visits to clubs, Zone Membership and Leadership Seminars AND planning, planning, planning at the club and district level! As we turn to August and the theme of “Membership and Club Extension Month” it is time to turn our eyes to growing Rotary members in our district.  Your membership team of Lee Weinman, Bill Mitchell and Bonnie Richards have planned two membership Challenges this year!

Kicking off August 15th is the Challenge #1…”100 members in 100 Days”

New members inducted into clubs will be tracked from August 15th through November 30th!  The club with the most new members will be rewarded $250 ROTARY BUCKS to be used to fund a club project!  The club with the greatest average of new members will be rewarded $250 ROTARY BUCKS to be used to fund a club project!  (A club is eligible to win both rewards!)

Challenge #2 begins nowLaunch Satellite Clubs or Charter New Clubs

Eight locations have been identified by the Membership Committee as potential satellite or new club sites.  Committee members will be contacting clubs to discuss support in those areas.  IF you know of a site or are ready to get started with a satellite or new club please contact a committee member with your idea.  Meet your Membership Team on the Membership page in the August newsletter.

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) Phase 1 and 2 class registration is open on the district website in DaCdb.  The class will be held on Saturday, August 29th from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Anyone in the district may register and attend.  Please contact me with any questions and PLEASE register and learn leadership skills, Rotary knowledge and gain new Rotary friends!

43 clubs in our district attended Club Qualification Meetings for district grants or Grant Management Seminars to qualify to submit global grants.  I am happy to announce that 37 clubs submitted a total of 46 district grants.  THANK YOU for your efforts!  The Foundation Committee members are in the process of reviewing those grants now.

Visiting clubs has been a joy for Roger and me!  The Rotarians in our district have “BIG hearts” and are serving those in need in their communities and across the world in many ways!  We have enjoyed the warm welcome from clubs and visiting your town and seeing the sites of so many of your community projects.  July saw us completing visits to nine clubs and we have sixteen club visits scheduled for August.  Remember to “Be a Gift to the World”.
