Rotary District 6860

December 2015

With the month of December upon us, let us take time to be thankful for our abundant blessings and express our thanks to others.  As Rotarians, we are truly blessed with so many gifts of talents, skills, and resources.  When we share our gifts with others through Rotary’s motto of “Service above Self”, not only are the lives of others improved but our lives are enriched.  RI President “Ravi” asks each Rotarian to “Be a Gift to the World”, his chosen theme for Rotary year 2015-2016.  Please take time to enjoy your family and friends this month.

Yesterday ended the “100 Members in 100 Days” Membership Challenge, August 15-November 30.  I am very anxious to see a full count of new members inducted into Rotary Clubs in our district over this time period.  I congratulate the Rotary Clubs whose membership has increased!  When the full tally is in, we will be announcing the winning clubs of the “Membership Moolah!  As before the contest, I urge all of the clubs to continue in your membership drive!

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month!  Rotary District 6860 Rotarians are engaged in projects fighting disease locally and across the world.  Through humanitarian grants, Rotarians provide food for children’s backpacks where food supplies in the home are low or non-existent, dig water wells for communities, provide bathroom facilities in schools where those services do not exist, treat children’s teeth with fluoride and test vision and fit eye glasses for individuals who have no other source of improved vision.  Rotarians support a hospital where the focus is treatment of women with female related diseases.  In other parts of the world, Rotarians train local medical personnel to provide specific health services after Rotarians have returned to their local clubs.
