Rotary District 6860

January 2016

Fellow Rotarians,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What a whirlwind the first six months of Rotary year 2015-2016 has been and how exciting to meet and get to know Rotarians throughout our district! Roger and I have completed forty-eight official club visits with four club visits remaining in January.  We have returned to several clubs to attend special events hosted by clubs celebrating club anniversaries, attending fund raisers or participating in club special programs.  RI President Ravi visited our district, met with the Critical Care Transport team members at Children’s Hospital and honored us as the guest speaker at the District Rotary Foundation Dinner Celebration hosted by the Rotary Club of Birmingham.  There has been one graduating class of Rotary Leadership Institute and Classes 1, 2 and 3 will be taught on January 22-23, 2016 at the Redstone Federal Credit Union on Wynn Drive in Huntsville.  All District 6860 Rotarians are encouraged to register and attend.

With the Rotary year at its midway mark, it is time to take a look at the goals set at the beginning of the year and check the progress and just what is left to do to complete the goals.  Be sure to keep MEMBERSHIP, FOUNDATION GIVING AND SERVICE a focus as we move into the second half of this year.  Please review the Awards criteria on the district website or in your printed directory and plan toward submission of award applications.

Make sure to mark your calendars with the dates and plan to attend the district conference on May 5-7, 2016 at the Embassy Suites in Huntsville.

January is Vocational Service Month.  Vocational Service is the very essence of Rotary and sets it apart as an organization from other service groups. Take time as Rotarians to share information about your vocations with others and learn about fellow members’ vocations.  Use your professional skills to provide service in your community.  Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to act accordingly in their words and actions.  Help a young person achieve his or her career aspirations.  Guide and encourage others in their professional development.
