Rotary District 6860

November 2015

November is Foundation Month in the Rotary WorldThank you District 6860 Rotarians for your generous support of the Rotary Foundation - the life blood of district and global grants transforming gifts into projects that save and change lives locally and around the world.  Through the Foundation, Rotary has contributed more than $1.3 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5 billion children in the world.

In November, please continue in your support of the Foundation, schedule a Foundation Program in your club and celebrate humanitarian projects your club has accomplished, many of which were funded through grants from the Rotary Foundation.

Funding for the Foundation comes through voluntary donations from Rotarians and others who share a vision for a better world.  Fifty percent of the monies donated by Rotarians returns to the districts to enable Rotary Clubs to focus their service efforts for local projects and worldwide for promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies. For Rotary year 2015-2016, our district received funds in the amount of $221,000 to use in funding humanitarian projects that District 6860 Clubs identify and deliver to those in need. These were funds that District 6860 Rotarians had previously donated to the Foundation and then were returned to us for use in projects to improve the lives of others locally and in the world!

The District 6860 Foundation Dinner is a very special occasion this year as we have an opportunity to meet and speak with Rotary International president, “Ravi” Ravindran.  He will be the speaker at the Foundation Dinner scheduled for Monday evening, November 16, 2015, at The Harbert Center, Birmingham.  The reception begins at 5:30 pm with dinner and the program following at 6:15 pm.  Please find an invitation on the district website www.rotary6860.org in DaCdb with registration instructions.

Rotary District 6860 Rotarians are very generous in their giving to the Rotary Foundation.  Let’s make Rotary year 2015-2016 a year with 100% foundation giving.  Just think what we could accomplish if Every Rotarian Every Year gave to the Foundation, if all 3,500 Rotarians in our district supported the foundation with a gift of $100 each!  Rotary members truly are “A Gift to the World”.  In November, let’s celebrate the Foundation and make real changes in the lives and hearts of generations.  The Rotary Foundation is our charity…please be a part of it.
