Awards

Rotarians engage in significant projects and service without any expectation of reward or recognition; however the district and Rotary International recognize clubs and individuals who have provided exceptional Service Above Self. Many clubs also recognize their members as well as outstanding members of their community.

Listed here are awards giving by the district and RI:

Awards for Clubs

  • Presidential Citation - This award, presented by Rotary International, is presented to every club who completes completes a list of challenging objectives set by the President of Rotary International for the current year and which submits the application.   • Significant Club Achievement - This award, presented by the district,recognizes Clubs that have met or exceeded their goals for the current Rotary year since July 1, 2013 in the avenues of service and The Rotary Foundation. No application is required and all clubs are eligible in 2014. <more information>

  • Avenue of Service Awards - These awards have been replaced by The Significant Club Achievement Awards for 2014. Recipients for these annual awards were selected by Assistant Governors who reviewed applications submitted by  clubs.

  • Charles W Pettingill Outstanding Club Award - Assistant Governors select one club from among applications submitted by clubs. The selection committee looks for excellence in several avenues of service public image, and support of The Rotary Foundation. Under current rules an individual club can only win this prestigious award once every three years. Application deadline is April 1, 2014.   • Edward Osterman Small Club Award - Presented annually to the Club who’s membership for the year has been 45 members or less, as measured by the District Secretary on March 31 of the year under review, and has distinguished itself by building an outstanding record of service in a combination of all of Rotary’s five Avenues of Service including the Rotary Foundation, during the CURRENT Rotary year. The selection committee for the Award is composed of the Assistant Governors. Application deadline is April 1, 2014. For more details, application form, and a list of past recipients Click Here.

District Awards for Individuals

  • Governor's Citation - New in 2014 Recognizes an outstanding Rotarian from each of the 12 areas in D7980. Check back for more information about these awards that will be inaugurated in 2014
     
  • Abraham I Gordon Award - Recognizes a Rotarian who has made a significant impact in the lives of the people in their community or in the international community. Preference will be given to International Service which advances RI's goal of world understanding and peace. The recipient is selected by the District Governor and applications are not accepted. - For a list of past recipients Click Here

  • Donald Adams Outstanding Rotarian Award - Each club may nominate as its candidate a member who best represents all-around contribution to the Five Avenues of Rotary Service to both his or her club and the District. The committee, comprised of the five most recent Donald Adams Award recipients and chaired by the most senior member, selects one recipient each year.
